Will of William Scudder

In the Name of God Amen I William Scudder of the Parish of Crayford in the County of Kent being in good health and of sound mind and memory do hereby make this my last Will and Testament

To my eldest daughter Sarah Scudder I bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds
To Mary Ann Crowhurst my youngest Daughter the sum of one hundred pounds
I also bequeath to Francis and Thomas Scudder my Grandchildren fifty pounds each
and to Mrs Sarah Scudder my Daughter in Law the sum of five pounds

I also bequeath to Mary Ann Caroline Louisa and Julia Roberts my Grand Children the sum of one hundred pounds to be equally divided between them and in case of the demise of either of them the said sum to go to the survivors

To John and Dinah Scudder Son and Daughter of Sarah Scudder I bequeath to them the sum of twenty five pounds each
To Sarah Baldwin Housekeeper to the late Mr Tagg I bequeath the sum of five pounds
I also bequeath to my Executors the sum of five pounds

And at the demise of the Widow of the late Richard Scudder the sum of thirty pounds to be equally divided amongst her Children left by their Father
I also bequeath to George and Emma Son of George and Mary Crowhurst the sum of twenty pounds each to be paid when George is fourteen years of age

I request at my decease a head and foot stone be placed at my Grave and the same to be brickt over My own and my Wife�s name to be wrote thereon

and The Residue if any to be equally divided between my two Daughters Sarah Scudder and Mary Ann Crowhurst the whole to be paid three Months after my decease in lawful money of Great Britain all but the aforesaid exceptions Viz the Children of the late Richard Scudder and George and Mary Ann Crowhurst

And further I request that William Hate Senr and Francis Scudder and Mary Ann Crowhurst all of this Parish at this time will act as my Executors
William Scudder X his Mark Signed and sealed this twenty sixth day of Jany one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight in the presence of
Willm Jacobs _ Thomas Buck Witnesses

Should I come in possession of one thousand pounds left me by the late Mr Tagg I bequeath to my Daughter Sarah Scudder one hundred pounds and to my Daughter Mary Ann Crowhurst one hundred pounds
I also bequeath to my Grandchildren John and Dinah Scudder and Thomas Scudder and George and Emma Crowhurst the sum of twenty pounds each all to be paid three Months after my decease
And the Residue if any to be divided equally between my two Daughters Sarah Scudder and Mary Ann Crowhurst
