Repent Nicholls twentie shillings a peece to be paid within three monethes after my decease
Item I give to my Sister Beynam, my sister Mayoe, my Sister Fenner and my Sister Mande (or Maude) twenty shillings a peece to be paid
wthin three monethes after my decease
Item I give to my Sister Cooke Six poundes, thirteene shillings and fower pence to be paid within halfe (a) yeare after my decease
Item I give to my two sonnes Samuell and John Sharpie Twentie pounds a peece in lieu of such legacies as I suppose to be due unto them, from Morefruit and Faintnot Fenner deceased to be paid at their severall ages of Twentie and two yeeres and yf it shall shall happen that either of them do dye before he accomplish the full age of twentie and two yeeres Then he which over liveth shall have his brothers parte before bequeathed
Item I give to my sonne John Sharpie fower skore pounds which is in the hands of his Master one Phillip Careles of London, wollen draper, as by a bond made from him to me it doth and may appeere Also I give unto him my said sonne John Six score poundes to be paid by myne Executor when he shall accompish the full age of Twenty and two yeeres
Item I give to Nathaniell; Daniell and Joshua Sharpie my sonnes two hundred poundes a peece to be paid at their severall ages of twenty
and two yeers And my will is that my wife shall bring them all up and bind my sonnes Daniell and Joshua to be apprentices to some good trade
Item I geve to my sonne Josias Sharpie Ten pounds to be paid at his full age of Tewentie and two yeeres
Item my will is that my said wife shall keepe and mainetayne my sonne Nathaniell unto learning untill he come to his said age of twentie and two
yeeres
Item I give to my two daughters Marie and Margaret Sharpie One hundred pounds a peece to be paid at their severall dayes of maryage or at
their severall ages of Twenty and one yeeres, wch first shall happen
Item my will and true meaning is that of theis my Children that is to say, John or Nathaniell or
Daniell or Joshua or Mary or Margaret shall happen to dye before he she or they shall come to their
severall ages before limitted and appointed of Twentie one or Twentie two yeeres, The porcon or
porcons before bequeathed of him her or them so dying shalbe equally devided and given to all myne other Children who shall then be living
Item I give to Mr. Goodaker of Maidstone, Minister, twentie shillings
All the rest of my goods, Chattells and moveables whatsoever I bequeath and give to my loving wife Abovehope Sharpie whom I mkae myne

And I do desire my Father Nicholls and my brother Richard Sharpie to be my Overseers
This is the last will of me the said Samuell Sharpie made the day and yeare first before written of and Concerning all my lands Tenements and hereditaments in the parishes of Crambrooke and Marden in the said Countie of Kent
First I will and bequeath to my said loving wife Abovehope Sharpie all that my Tenement with fortie eight acres of land more or lesse withall the howses, barnes and other buildings, orchards, gardens and all the[i]r the appurtenncs [appurtenances] lying and being in the parish of Cranbrook and now in the occupation of one William Howerman and his Assignes, to have and to hould, to her and her Assignes, untill my sonne Samuell shall come to his full age of Twentie and two yeeres
And then and from thenceforth my will and true meaning is that my said sonne Samuell shall have the said Tenement and forty eight acres of land withall and singuler the appurtenncs as aforesaid to him and his heires for ever, yelding and paying to my said wife Abovehope Sharpie Twentie markes yearelie during her naturall life halfe yearly to be payd by even portions at the two usuall tymes and terms of the year (that is to say) Twentie nobles yearlie at ye feast of the Annunticaccon [Annunciation] of Mary the Virgin & twentie nobles yearely at the feaste of St. Michaell the Archangell and this to be in lieu of her Joynture
And yf it shall happen the said Annuitie of twentie markes partlie to be behind and unpaid
Contrarie to the meaning of this my will in part or in all it shalbe lawfull for the said Abovehope my
wife into the pr[e]misses to enter and distreyne and the distresses there taken to beare away and retaine
untill shee shalbe fully Contented and paid all such rent and part of the Annuitie of twentie marks
yearly as shalbe unpaid and all such losses and hinderances as shee shall thereby sustaine
And my will and true meaning is that my wife shall keepe my said sonne Samuell one full halfe yeare after
my decease that he may have tyme and space to place himselfe with some honest Clothier
Provided allway(s) and my true meaning is that yf my sonne Samuell shall happen to die before he
accomplish his full age of twentie and two yeeres or without heires of his bodie lawfully
begotten that then and from thenceforth my sonne John Sharpie shall have the said Tenements in
Cranbrooke aforesaid and the fortie eight acres of lands withall & singuler the appertenncs
aforesaid in manner and forme aforesaid to him and his heires for ever
And that upon this further Condition following, namelie that he shall geve unto all his brethren & Sisters my Children before
named one hundred and fifty pounds to be equallie devided amongest them there and at that tyme liveing
Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife Abovehope Sharpie (all) that myne other Tenement,
houses, barnes, owthouses, workhouse and all other buildings, gardens, orchards with
Nine acres of lands in Marden aforesaid wherein I now dwell withall and singuler the
appurtenancs and with a little howse and garden thereto adjoyning All which I bought together
of one John Walter of Marden aforesaid To have and to hould to her and her Assignes
until my sonne Josias shall Come to his full age of Twentie and two yeeres
And after his age of Twentie and two yeeres my will and true meaning is that this said Tenement wth Nyne acres of land
in Marden aforesaid with all and singuler the appurtenances and wth the little howse and garden
thereto adjoyned shalbe to my said sonne Josias and to his heires for ever
Provided allwayes and my will true meaning is that after my said sonne Josias shall Come to his full
age of twentie and two yeeres, it shalbe Lawfull for my said wife to dwell in this my said Tenement so
long as shee please and to use and occupie all the prmisses and appurtenances thereof, Yealding and
paying to my said sonne Josias seaven pounds yerelie during the tyme of her so dwelling, at the two usuall termes & tymes of payment by even
portions (that is to say) three pounds Tenn shillings at the Anuntiacon of Marie the Virgin and three pounds Tenn shillings at the feast of St.
Michaell the Archangell yearlie during the said terme
But if shee will depart then my sonne Josias his heires & Assignes shall pay unto my said wife Abovehope Sharpie seaven pounds Ten shillings
yearelie in the very same manner as before is said she should have (been) payd & ther(e) had and soe had and enjoyed all the said
prmisses to his owne proper use and his heires and Assignes for ever And this to Continue during her naturall life
And my will and true meaning is that my wife shall not remove alienate of sell away any of the glasse in the windowes of the howse or any of the
ymplements in the workhouse as the Copper and the fate or any other ymplements thereunto belonging, but they shall
remayne to the howse to the use and behalfe of my said sonne and to his heires for ever
And yf it shall happen my said sonne Josias to dye before he come to his full age of Twentie two
yeeres or before he have heires of his body lawfully begotten, that then my will and true meaning is
that my sonne Daniell shall have this my said howse and Tenement in Marden aforesaid with the
Nine acres of land and all the apputenances with the little howse and garden thereto adjoyned in
manner and forme aforesaid to him and his heires for ever
And in Consideration thereof he shall give to all his brothers and sisters then living the some of One hundred and fiftie pounds to be equallie
devided amongst them
Item I give and bequeath to my said wife Abovehope Sharpie that my little howse in Cranbrooke aforesaid with a garden and orchard and all and singuler the appurtenances, wch I bought of Thomas Denman and wch now is in the occupation of one old Denman To have and to hould to her and her Assignes for ever

Samuel was born and baptised at St. Dunstan, Cranbrook on 29th August 1574.
Wife Abovehope was baptised at St. Mary, Eastwell, Kent on 27th January 1582/83, daughter of Josias Nicholls.
Abovehope Sharpie re-married, relict of Samuel Sharpie, late of Marden, deceased, aged 42 and (now) of Maidstone, on 1 Feb 1626/27 to William
Parsons, 40, Bachelor, Clothier of Marden, at Harrietsham. Repent Nicholls (her brother) of Wye, Clerk, was bondsman.
Samuel & Abovehope's children (all baptised at Marden): 15 Mar 1600/01 Samuel; 6? Jan 1602/03 John; 27 Oct 1605 Josias; 7 Jun 1607 Nathaniel;

Elizabeth Cook, widow, remarries a Percivall Austen at Marden in 1619.
Sister Annis Sharpy married Richard Banam 20 Jun 1589 at St. George, Benenden, Kent.
Sister Susan Sharpy married William Mayowe 31 Aug 1601 at Marden. Susanna wife of William Mayho was buried 7 Feb 1625/6 at Marden.
