In the name of God Amen the fifteenth day of January in the yeare of our most Soveraigne Kinge James by the grace of God, Kinge of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, defendour of the fayth
Whereas I William Simons of Stapleherst beinge very sick of body but of good and perfect remembrance I bequeath my soule to allmighty God my maker and redemer and my body to be buried 1613 [1613/14]
This is ye last will and testament of me William Simons

Item I give unto my sonne Thomas xxl [£20] of good and lawfull mony to be payde by myne executor when he shall come (to) the age of xxj yeares
and if Margaret my wife whome I doe ordayne and make my whole executor if shee doe hereafter marry she shall pay to my sonne Thomas xl more of like monye when he is come to the age aforesayde

Item allso I give to my sonne Oliver xxl of good and lawfull monye to be payde by mine executor when he shall come to the age of xxj yeares
and if my wife doe hereafter marry she shall pay to my sonne Oliver xl more of like monye when he is come to the age aforesayde
Item allso I give to my sonne Edward xxl of good and lawfull monye to be payde by mine executor when he shall come to the age of xxj yeares
and if my wife doe hereafter marry she shall pay to my sonne Edward xl more of like monye when he is come to the age aforesayde
Allso I give to my daughter Elisabeth xl of good and lawfull monye to be payde by mine executor when she shall come to the age of xxj yeares

Allso I give to yt wch now of the infant my wife goeth great withall if it be a sonne I give him xxl of good and lawfull monye to be payde by mine executor when he shall come to the age of xxj yeares and if my wife doe hereafter marry she shall pay xl more of like monye when he is come to the age aforesayde
and if yt be a daughter then I give her xxxl of good and lawfull mony to be payde by mine executor when she shall come to the aged of xvj yeares

I give to Margaret my wife all th[a]t my tenaments and landes called Dunbury I give it her (for the) tearme of her naturall life uppon Condicon she shall neither strip nor wast and after her decease to my sonnes in eaquale portions
allso provided th't if any of my Children to happen to dye before they Com to age to receive there some or somes of mony I will th't such some or somes of mony shall remayne to my Children wch are then liveinge to be eaqually devided

All ye residue of my goodes and Chattells not given nor bequeathed I give to Margarett my wife whome I doe ordayne and make my whole executor of this my last will and testament
allwayes provided th't if Margarett my wife do marry before these legacies by payde wch I have given shee shall put in sufficient bonde for the payment of these legacies wch I have given accordinge to the true meaninge of this my last will and testament

Notes:
17 January 1613/4 Willm Symmons houshoulder was buried at Staplehurst.
21 Jan 1593/4 – Willia Symon & Margrett Hall were married at Marden.
They had numerous children, the first baptised at Marden: 18 May 1595 Joane; 3 Aug 1594: twins William & Symons;
and the following all at All Saints, Staplehurst: 3 Sep 1598 Thomas; 30 Nov 1601 Elizabeth; 14 Nov 1602 Oliver & 2 Feb 1607 Elizabeth.
