In the Name of God Amen
I James Sladden of the Parish of Sainte Margarett near the Citty of Rochister in the County of Kent Malster being sicke in bodye but of sound and perfect Memory (praise bee to God therefore) Doe make and ordayne This my last will & testament in manner followinge
First I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Almighty God my Creator and my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decentlye buryed at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named in assured hope of a jioyfull resurrection (by the merritts of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ) to Eternall glory

And as to my Temporall Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless mee I give devise and bequeath the same and every parte thereof
(as namely all debtes due upon bond booke or Specally or otherwise
And all goodes househould stuffe plate readye money brasse pewter lynnen bedding and all other thinges whatsoever remayning and being in and aboute the Messuage or Tenement wherein I now Inhabite or in any other place whatsoever or due to mee from any person or persons whatsoever
And in particular the summe of one hundred poundes of lawfull money of England due unto me from Benamine [Benjamin] Sladden of Lyneinge [Lyminge] * in the aforesaid County of Kent Yeoman and payable to mee the said James Sladden within one yeare after the decease of Katherine Warden my Mother with such Interest as shall be due for the same
unto my beloved Wife Sarah Sladden whome I also make sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament desireinge her Care in ye Educacon and bringing up of my said Children in the fear of God to the upmost of the power and abilitie

In Witness whereof I have here unto sett my hand and Seale The seaven and twentieth day of July in the Yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie three

This Will was proved at Westminster the one and Twentieth day of February (English Style) One Thousand six hundred and fiftie Three [1654] Before the Judges for Probate of Wills and granting Administracons (sic) Lawfully Authorized By the Oath of Sarah Sladden the Relict and Sole Executrix in the same Will named To whom was committed Administracon of all and singular the goodes Chattles and Debtes if the sayd deceased shee beinge first ligally sworne Truily to Administer the same
