I give and devise one Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain free and clear of and from all Taxes Charges and deductions whatsoever unto my dear Wife Sarah Sladden and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural life to be Issuing and going out of all that my Messuage Tenement or Farm called Le Gore otherwise Gore and all and singular the Lands Hereditaments and Appurtenances to the said Messuage Tenement or Farm belonging therewith used occupied or enjoyed situate lying and being in the several Parishes of Eastry and Winsborough otherwise Woodnesborough or one of them in the said County of Kent and now or late in the Tenure or occupation of Kite? or his assigns or undertenants and to be paid yearly and every year during the natural life of my said wife Sarah Sladden upon the four most usual Feasts or Days of Payment in the year (that is to say) the Feasts of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist; Saint Michael the Archangel and the Birth of our Lord Christ, by even and equal portions Quarterly to be paid the first Payment thereof to begin and be made upon such of the said Feast days which shall first and next happen after my decease
And my Mind and Will is and I do hereby will devise order and direct that if it shall happen that the said Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds or any part thereof shall at any time or times be behind or unpaid by the space of twenty one days next after either or any of the said Feast days or times of Payment on which the same ought to be paid then and so often it shall be lawful to and for my said Wife Sarah Sladden and her assigns into and upon all and singular my Messuage Tenement or Farm Lands Hereditaments and Premises with the appurts. [appurtenances] or into and upon any part thereof to enter and there to distrain for the said Annuity Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds or for any part thereof so being behind and unpaid as aforesaid
And the Distress and Distresses then and there found from thence to take lead drive remove carry away impound or otherwise detain and keep and also to sell and dispose of the same for and towards satisfaction of all Arrears of the said Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds and also of all the Costs and Charges of taking such Distress or Distresses returning the Overplus (if any shall happen to be) to the Owner or Owners of the Goods and Chattels so distrained
And my will and mind is and I do hereby expressly will order and direct that the said Annuity of Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds hereinbefore by this my Will by me given and devised to my said Wife Sarah Sladden for her life shall be by her received accepted and taken in lieu and full satisfaction and bar of all Dower and Right and Title of dower which either by the Common Law or by the Custom of Kent or other howsoever she can or may claim demand or be entitled unto of in or out of any Messuage Farms Lands Tenements or Hereditaments whereof or wherein I am now or at the time of my decease shall be seized of or for any Estate of Inheritance
I give and devise my said Messuage Tenement or Farm Lands Hereditaments and Premises subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the said Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge or Sum of sixty pounds free and clear of and from all Taxes Charges and deductions as aforesaid and also all and every other my Messuages Farms Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever either in possession Reversion Remainder or expectancy unto my two Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden equally to be divided between them share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants and to their several Heirs and Assigns for ever
And from and immediately after the payment and discharge of all my just Debts Funeral Expences and the Charges of proving this my will and all other incident Charges I give and bequeath all and every my Goods Chattels Stock in Trade Effects Debts due and owing unto me Monies Securities for Monies Monies in the public Stocks or Funds of this Kingdom and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same shall consist and be at the time of my decease unto my said two Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden equally to be divided between them share and share alike and to their several Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever
And I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my said Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made And I do hereby publish and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Isaac Sladden the Testator have to every sheet of this my last Will and Testament in three
sheets of paper contained set my had and Seal the twelfth day of November in the twenty ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign

This is a Codicil to be annexed to an to be a part of the last will and Testament of me Isaac Sladden the Elder late of the Precinct of the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Christ Canterbury in the County of Kent but now of the City of Canterbury Tallow Chandler and Grocer
Whereas I have in and by my last will and Testament dated the twelfth day of November One thousand seven hundred and eighty eight devised unto my Wife Sarah Sladden for her life one Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of sixty pounds Charged on my Farm and Lands at Eastry Now I do hereby ratify and confirm the said Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge
And I do by this my Codicil give and devise unto my said Wife Sarah Sladden for and during the term of her natural life a further Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of twenty pounds free and clear of and from all Taxes Charges and deductions whatsoever to be paid unto her on the same Feast days with like power of Distress as in my said last will and Testament are mentioned And I do hereby order and direct the said Annuities or Yearly Rent Charges of sixty pounds and twenty pounds to issue not only out of my Farm and Lands in my said Will mentioned but also out of such other Lands and Hereditaments which I have purchased since the making thereof
And I do hereby give and devise all and every my Messuages Farms Lands and Hereditaments Charged and Chargeable with the said Annuities or Yearly Rent Charges of sixty pounds and twenty pounds unto my said Wife Sarah Sladden for her life as aforesaid unto my Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden equally to be divided between them share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants and to their several heirs and assigns for ever
I give and bequeath one thousand pounds stock four per Centum per Annum Bank Annuities unto my said Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden Upon Trust that they the said Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden their Exors. and Admors. shall and do apply the dividends Interest and annual produce thereof or a Competent part thereof for and towards the Maintenance Education and bringing up of my Grandson Isaac Sladden until he shall have attained the age of twenty one Years and when and as soon as he shall have attained the said age of twenty one Years
Then Upon trust that they my said Sons Thomas Sladden and Isaac Sladden their Executors and Admors. shall and do pay assign and transfer the said one thousand pounds Stock and the dividends Interest and Annual Produce thereof unto my said Grandson Isaac Sladden his Executors Admors. and Assigns to and for his and their own proper use and benefit which I do hereby give and bequeath to him and them accordingly
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of April One thousand eight hundred and seven

admon. [administration] of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Isaac Sladden the Elder
formerly of the Precincts of the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Christ Canterbury in the
County of Kent but late of the City of Canterbury deceased was granted to William Sladden Joseph
Frederick Hagell and Jeremiah Giles the Exors. of the Will of Isaac Sladden the Younger
deceased whilst living the Son and one of the Executors and one of the Residuary Legatees named in
the said Will they having been fist sworn (by Commission) to administer
The said Isaac Sladden and also Thomas Sladden the Son and other Executor and Residuary Legatee respectively survived but
died without taking upon them or either of them probate and Execution of the said Will Exd.
