In the name of God Amen In the name of God Amen the nineteenth daye of Marche in he yeare of our Lorde God One thousand Sixe hundred * and in the yeares of our Soverayne Lorde James by the grace of God of greate Brittaine, Fraunce and Irelande, king the eleventh [* 1613/4] and of Scotland the fortie and seaventh
I Edwarde at Snothe of the p[ar]ishe of Throwghly in the Countie of Kente yeoman Sic in body nevrthelesse of whole minde and p[er]fect remembraunce doe ordayne and make this my laste will & testament in manner followeng
Firste I bequeth my soule to allmighty God trusteing to be saved onely by the mercyes of God through the m[e]rits of Jesus Ch[rist] my blessed lorde and Saviour
Next I bequeth my body to be buried w[i]thin the p[ar]ishe Churche oft Throwley at the p[ro]per costs and chardges of mine executors underneathe Specified

Allsoe I will that Susan my wife shall have all my lands and tenem[en]ts w[i]thin ye pyshe of Throwleigh and Challock dureing the naturall life of the sayed Suzanna keeping herselfe still a widowe and allsoe keepeing all man[n]er of reparacons of the hous[e] & of the Closures of the pr[e]misses wthoute any maner of waste to be done uppon any p[ar]te or p[ar]cell of the sayde lands and tenements

And after the decease of Suzanna my wife I will that Thomas at Snothe my sonne shall have my tenements and all my lands Scituate lyeing and being wthin the pishe of Throwleigh w[hi]ch are threescore acres of landes bee it more or lesse To have and to holde all the s[ai]d lands and tenements to him and his heyres for ever

In consideracon whearof I will that the said Thomas at Snothe my sonne his executors & assignes shall paye or Cause to be payde to
Richard at Snothe my sonne threescore pounds Sterlinge;
to Roberte AtSnothe my sonne threescore pounds Sterlinge;
to William at Snothe my sonne threescore pounds Sterlinge;
all w[hi]ch sayde sommes of money I will shallbe paid unto everie one of them at the age of one and twentie yeares

And if it fortune any of my saide sonnes (that is to saye) Richarde, Robert & William to die before the full expectacon of the sayde one and twentie years, then I will that the theare pte or ptes to him or them bequeathed soe dyeing shall remayne to the same Thomas my sonne

Allsoe I will that the sayde Thomas my sonne shall suffer the sayde Richarde, Robert and William my sonnes to have at theyre pleasure the lower chamber at the streete doore soe long as they or any of them shall be unmarried and to him libertie to goe and come to the same at all times convenient and allsoe to suffer them and everie of them to have fire roome in the hall and the sd Thomas at Snothe to keepe the same windtight and watertight at all times of theyre being there unmarried at his p[ro]per coste and chardges

Allsoe I will that my sonne Thomas shall pay to my daughter Alice, and to my daughter Mary fortie pounds a peece at the daye of theyre marriage
And ife it shall happen one of these my daughters to dye before the saide some or somes shallbe payde then my sonne Thomas to have the sayde money to his use

Allsoe I will that my sonne Thomas shall paye all my debts & legacyes and give the poore people of Throwleigh twentie shillings either at the time of my buriall or otherwise wthin halfe a yeare after

And I will that ife myne eldest sonne & heyre Thomas at Snothe shall chance to dye before he hathe any sonne or sonnes of his body lawefully begotten then my seconde sonne Richard shallbe heyre and possesse all those lands and tenem[en]ts bequeathed to my eldest sonne Thomas
And if this my seconde sonne Richarde chaunce to dye before he hathe any sonne or sonnes of his body lawefully begotten, then my third? sonne? [Robert] that to be heyre and possesse all my lands and tenements formerely bequeathed to his twoe elder brother(s)
And if this my thirde sonne [Robert chance to die before he hath any son] or sonnes of the bodye lawefullie begotten, then my fowrthe sonne William to possesse all my lands and tenements that were in ye tenure and possession of his other three brother(s)
And if this my fowrthe sonne William channce to dye before he have any sonne or sonnes of his body lawfullie begotten then my daughter Alice to possess all my lands formerly bequeathed to her brother
And if this my daughter Alice shall channce to dye wthout issue, then my seconde daughter Mary to possesse all my lands and tenemts descended to her Sister Alice
And if this my daughter Alice (Mary?) dye wthoute issue then the next a kinne [of kin] and bloode that is of my name or called Snothe shall inherit the same

Allsoe I will that my daughters shall staye stille in myne house to doe the wourke? the of theyre on other or of theyre brother if my daughters soe please receiving for ye same the some of 40s a yeare a peece for theire service untill they be married

Of this my last will and testament I ordeyne my wife Suzanna at Snothe and my Sonne Thomas at Snothe executors and hereunto
As to the rest of all the premisses I have sett to myne hands the daye and yeare above written
