In the name of God Amen The Tenth daye of August in the Fourteenth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland Frannce and Ireland, kinge, defender of the Faith etc. and in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred thirtie and eight
I Richard Solley of Ashe next Sandwich in the Countie of Kent Yeoman being sickly of body but of good and pfect remembrance, blessed be God doe make this my last will & testament in maner & forme followinge
First I comend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God assuredly trustinge to be saved by the death & merits of my Lord & only Saviour Jesus Christ & my body to the earth from whence it came

Item I give to the poore of Ashe twentie shillinges
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth five shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Rachell Five shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto my deare & Welbeloved wife Johan All my household stuffe, my nowe cowe & calfe & my sowe & piggs & one younge horse and all my hempe
Item I further give unto my said Wife the some of Fifteene pounds apeice? dureinge her life, to begin at the foure usual feasts of St. Michaell Archangell, The Nativitie of our Lord Christ, Ladye daye & midsomer, quarterly by my sonne & heire Stephen Solley

Item I further give and bequeath unto my said wife, All that part of my nowe Mansion house called “Nashe” wherein I nowe dwell, together with my little orchard next Goodman Redmary? with the (tenement?) land & arable? garden dureinge her Naturall life

Item I give to my daughter Martha the sume of one hundred pounds to be paid within sixe months after the decease of my said Wife, or els the some of Eight pounds a yeare dureinge her naturall life, to be paid quarterly at the foure usuall feasts of St. Michaell the Archangell, the Nativity of our Lord Christ, thannunciation of the blessed Virgin Marie, & the Nativity of St. John Baptist by even & equall portions, the first payment to beginne, the first of the said Feasts wch shall happen after the decease of my said wife

And my will is that my said daughter Martha shall have the free use of a Convenient chamber in my said Mansion house for and dureinge her naturall life, after the decease of my said wife, if my said daughter Martha shall continue sole & unmarried

And all my lands tenements & hereditaments not formerly devised in this my last will & testament I doe hereby will & demise & bequeath unto my said sonne & heire Stephen Solley (whome I ordeyne & make the sole executor of this my last will & testament) and to his heires for ever

In Wittnes whereof I the said Richard Solley have hereunto subscribed my name & putt to my seal & published the same to be my last will & testament the daye & yeare first above written
