This is the Last Will and Testament of me Henry Stroud of the Parish of Sturry in the County of Kent, Gentleman made this twenty third day of April in the year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety four

First I give and Bequeath the Sum of Five hundred Pounds in the three per Cent Consolidated Annuities unto Walter Mond of the Parish of Sturry aforesaid, Carpenter In Trust that he the said Walter Mond his Ex[ecut]ors or Adm[inistrat]ors shall and will pay apply and dispose of the yearly Interest dividend and produce of the said Five hundred pounds as the same shall be received by equal half yearly payments unto my Niece Elizabeth Johnson and her Assigns for and during the term of his [her?] natural life or otherwise permit and suffer authorize and Inpower my said Niece to receive the same during her life

And from and immediately after the decease of my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson then In Trust that he said Walter Mond his Executors or Administrators shall and do pay assign and transfer the said Sum of Five hundred pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities and all the Interest Dividends and produce thereof which shall be then due thereon unto all and every the Child and Children of my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson lawfully to (be) begotton which shall be living at the time of the decease of my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson equally to be divided between them (if more than one) share and share alike to be paid assigned and transf[erre]d unto him her or them severally and successively when and as soon as he she or they shall have attained his her or their respective age or Ages of twenty One years

And if any one or more of the said Children shall happen to die under the said Age and without leaving Issue of his her or their Body or Bodies lawfully to be begotten then In Trust to pay assign and transfer the part or share and parts and shares of him her or them so dying under the said Age without Issue as aforesaid unto and among the Survivors or Survivor of them equally to be divided among such Survivors (if more than One) share and share alike
And to be paid and payable at such times and in such manner as the Original Part Share and Proportion of the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds three per Cent Consolidated Annuities as aforesaid is by this my Will directed to be paid to the said Children of my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson respectively as aforesaid

And in Case my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson shall happen to die without leaving a Child or Children lawfully begotten which shall be living at the time of her decease Or in Case she shall leave such Child or Children and all of them shall happen to die under the said Age of Twenty one Years and without leaving Issue lawfully to be begotten as aforesaid Then Upon further Trust that he the said Walter Mond his Executors or Administrators shall and do pay apply and dispose of the Yearly Dividends Interest and Produce of the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities as aforesaid as the same shall be received by equal half Yearly Payments Unto all and every the Child and Children of my Sister Susanna Brett lawfully to be begotten which shall be living at the decease of all and every the Child and Children of my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson equally to be divided between them (if more than one) share and share alike to be paid assigned and transferred unto him her or them severally and respectively when and as soon as he she or they shall have attained his her or their respective Age or Ages of Twenty one years

And if any or either of the said Children of my said Sister Susanna Brett shall happen to die under the said Age and without leaving Issue of his her or their Body or Bodies lawfully to be begotten which shall be then living Then In Trust to pay assign and transfer the Part or Share or Parts or Shares of him her or them so dying under the said Age without Issue as aforesaid unto and among the Survivors or Survivor of them equally to be divided among such Survivors (if more than one) share and share alike And to be paid or payable unto him her or them at such times and in such manner as the Original Part Share and Proportion of the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities as aforesaid is by this my Will directed to be paid to the Children of my said Sister Susanna Brett

And in Case there shall be no Child or Children of my said Sister Susannah Brett or all of them shall happen to die under the said Age of Twenty One Years and without leaving Issue lawfully to be begotten as aforesaid Then upon this further Trust that he the said Walter Mond his Executors or Administrators shall and do Pay Assign and transfer the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities as aforesaid and all the Dividends Interest and Produce thereof which shall be then due thereon unto my Executors or Administrators

Also I Give and Bequeath the Sum of One hundred pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities unto my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson and to her Executors, Administrators and Assigns To and for her and their own use and Benefit
Also I Give and Bequeath the Sum of Fifty Pounds in the said three per Cent Consolidated Annuities unto Robert Smith and Mary his Wife to and for their Own Use and Benefit
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Sister in Law Mary Stroud the Sum of Ten Pounds of lawfull Money of Great Britain
Also I Give and Bequeath and Annuity or Yearly Sum of Twenty Pounds in certain Annuities called the Short Annuities Established by Act of Parliament which I am possessed of for the remainder of a Term of Twenty eight Years which was to come and unexpired from the fifth of January One thousand seven hundred and seventy nine and all my Estate and Interest therein unto my Sister Susannah Brett and to her Executors, Administrators and Assigns to and for her and their own use and Benefit

Also I Give and Bequeath unto my said Niece Elizabeth Johnson One Silver Table Spoon
Also I Give and Bequeath to each of my Executors hereinafter named the Sum of Ten Pounds Apiece of lawful Money of Great Britain for their Trouble in Proving and Executing this my Will which said Legacy and all others given by this my Will I direct to be paid within Six Months after my decease
And I do hereby Will and direct that all my Wearing Apparel, both Linnen and Woollen shall be given away or otherwise disposed of by my Executors hereafter named in such manner as they may think most proper

Also I Give and Bequeath all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels and Effects Stocks Funds Ready Money Securities for Money and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be (after my just Debts Funeral Expences the Legacies aforesaid by me given and bequeathed the Charges of Proving this my Will and other Incident Expences are paid and satisfied) unto my said Sister Susannah Brett her Executors, Administrators and Assigns To and for her and their own use and Benefit

And I do hereby make nominate and appoint the said Walter Mond and Stephen Sayer of Reculver in the County of Kent aforesaid Yeoman joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And Lastly I do hereby revoke frustrate and make void all former and other Wills and Testamentary Papers whatsoever by me at any time heretofore made and do publish and declare this only to be my Last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Henry Stroud have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three Sheets of Paper affixed together, to the first two Sheets thereof set my Hand and to this third and last Sheet thereof my Hand and Seal the day and year first above written

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Henry Stroud as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of Us who have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses at his Request and in this [his] Presence and in the Presence of each other

This Will was Proved at London the Sixth day of May in the Year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety six before the Worshipful Samuel Pearce Parson Doctor of Laws, Surrogate of this Right Honorable Sir William Wynne, Knight, also Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Walter Mond one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased, having been first sworn duly to administer
Power reserved of making the like Grant to Stephen Sayer the other Executor named in the said Will when he shall apply for the same.

Proved at London the nineteenth day of June 1799 before the Judge by the Oath of Stephen Sayer the other Ex[ecut]or to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted having been first sworn by Common duly to adm'r.
Note: Walter Mond was buried at Sturry 21 Dec 1798
