In the Name of God Amen I John Stroud of the Parish of Saint Paul, Deptford in the County of Kent, Victualler being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding (praised be God for the same) do make, publish and declare my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and principally I direct that all my said debts be fully paid and satisfied, and I direct that my body may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named

And as to all such Lands and Tenements, Goods and Chattels, monies and securities for money and other Estate and Effects as well real as personal as it may please God to bless me with or whereto I may be entitled at the time of my decease, whether in possession, reversion remainder or expectancy I give, devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof (subject to the payment of my said debts and my funeral and testamentary expences) unto my Wife Rachael Stroud to and for her own sole and absolute use and benefit

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Wife sole Executrix of this my last Will hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me at any time or times heretofore made And I do declare this and none other to be and contain my whole last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Stroud have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence, at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses

Proved at London 18th May 1831 before the Worshipful Charles Coote, Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Rachel Stroud, Widow, the Relict, the sole Executrix to whom Administration was granted, having been first sworn duly to administer. Transcribed by Shelagh Mason 19th August 2021
