In the name of God Amen in the yeare of or lorde God a thowsand fyve hundrethe three skore & fyve, the xvth day of the monethe of November, And in the sevente yeare of the Reygne of or sovreigne Lady Elizabethe by the grace of God Quene of England France & Ireland Defender of the Faythe &c.
I Robert Symon of the parishe of Marden & in the dyoces of Canterbury wthin the county of Kente beinge in good mynde and parfett Remembrannce, thanks be unto Almyhgty God doe make & ordayne this my present Testamente & last will in maner & fourme folowinge
Fyrst I bequethe my sowle in to the hands of Almyghty God my creator and savyor And my body to be buryed wthin the church yarde of the p[ar]ishe of Marden aforesayd

Also I will unto the box of the poore of the foresaid pishe of Marden towards the helpynge of the said poverty ther(e) xijd
Also I will to be distributed & gyven to poore people & other in the day of my buryall such some & somes of mony as shalbe thought most conveyent And at the discretion of my said Executrix

Also I will unto Richard Symon my sonne my best russett coate and my best hosen
Also I will unto Robert Symon my sonne my best Colored coote
Also I will to be distributed all my Awgores [augers] & wynbelles (wimbles) w[i]th other of my said toles [tools] Res[er]vinge my best axe, my best byll, Reper & faggott Bill to be equally devyded & shifted ymmedyatly after my decease unto my two sonnes Rychard Symon and Roberte Symon

Also I will unto Alice Symon my daughter wch I had by my Fyrst wyfe, twenty shillinges of good and lawfull mony of England to be paid unto her by my said Executrix wythin one hole yeare nexte and ymmedyatly after my decease, under Condycyon yf she be nowe lyvinge

Also I will unto Julyan Symon the daughter of my said sonne Robert Symon twenty shillinges of good and lawfull mony of England to be paid unto her & her heires by my said Executrix wthin two hole yeares next and ymedyatly after my decease And to be put to encrease to the best use that yt may be most profytablest for the behoufe of the same Julyane Symon and her heyres

The Resydue of all my goods & Cattalls, my detts legacies & funerall expenses Fyrst paid & don(e) I give and bequethe unto Katheryn my wyef which Katheryn of this my present Testamente and Last wyll I do make and ordeyne my sole executrix

I doe make and ordayne Rychard Bennett of the parishe of Horsmonden my sonne in lawe of this my presente Testamente and last will my ovrseer And to ayde my said wyef And he to have for his paynes takynge in that behalfe twenty shillings of good and lawfull mony of England And if his charges happen to be more then he to have more And accordinge as yt shalbe thought most metest

To this wyttnessethe: Wyllyam Bredgeland; Nicholas Horsmunden &c.

Probatum fuit: 15th April 1566 - mentions the witnesses.

Robert Symon was buried 13th March 1565/66 at St. Michael & All Saints, Marden, Kent.
Robert Symon married Catherine Brookes 3 May 1556 at Rotherhithe, Surrey
Julyan Symon, d. of Robert's son Robert, was baptised 17 Feb 1562/63 at Marden.
