In the name of God Amen the three and twentith day of April in the yeare of our Lord God One thousand six hundred fiftie and two
I Smith Tookey of the Towne and port of New Romney in the Countie of Kente Innholder being of Good and perfect minde doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I give and render up unto God my Maker my Spiritt which he of his Fatherly goodnes gave unto me when he first fashoned me, trusting to be saved by the only meritts of Jesus Christ &c. and as concerning my Body I commende it to the Earth whereof it came to be decently buried by my Executrix hereafter named

and as touching Deborah my Wife with whom I Coupled my selfe In the feare of God I give and bequeath unto the said Deborah All that my Mansion House, Stables and Closes thereunto belonging wherein I now dwell in Called or knowne by the name of the Dogg and Dolphin And also one Barne and Close in New Romney aforesaid purchased of me Henry Broadnax, gentleman To have and to hould unto her and her Assignes during her naturall life and after her decease to my sonne Bartholomew his heires and assignes for ever

Also I give and bequeath unto my sonne Bartholomew fowre Acres of Fresh Marsh more or lesse scituate lying and being in New Romney aforesaide and Hope all Saintes in Romney Marsh lately by me purchased of Symon Beadle deceased together with a Tenement in the occupation of John Carpenter in New Romney aforesaid to have and to hould unto the said Bartholomew his heires and assignes for ever
(except the little Close thereunto belonging which I will my Wife to have during her life)

And of this my last Will and Testament I make the same Deborah my sole Executrix

In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written

the marke of Anne Baker; John Pepper

This will was proved at Westminster the One and thirtith day of March in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand Six hundred Fifty and fowre before the Judges for probate of Wills and granting Administrations, lawfully authorized by the oath of Deborah Tookey the Relict and Sole Executrix named in the above written Will To whome Administration of all and singular the goods Chattells and debts of the said deceased was Committed, she being first legally Sworne by vertue of a Commission truly and faythfully to administer the same

Smyth Tookie, Bachelor, 25 married Deborah Etherick, Widow, 32 both of New Romney on 5 Feb 1626 at St. Nicholas, New Romney, Kent.
Thomas Etherick, Tailor married Deborah Netter, Virgin, both of New Romney, on 24 Jun 1612 at St. Mary Bredman, Canterbury. Thomas Netter of New Romney, gentleman was Bondsman.
Smyth & Deborah Tookey had 4 known children: John 8 Jun 1628 (Bu.: 4 Oct 1628); Jane 18 Apr 1630 (Bu.: 24 Aug 1632); Bartholomew 27 Oct 1633; Jane 5 July 1636.
Daughter Jane Tookey married Edward Goulstone Esquire on 5 Jul 1665 at St. Clement, Old Romney, Kent.
