Richard Topley of Harrietsham, will dated 24 Oct 1591
My body to be buried in the church yard of Harrietsham

20s to the poore people of the parish of Harrietsham to be given at two severall tymes viz
10s at or immediately after my buriall, whereas I give
To Lovelace of Farborne 20d
To Father Popler 12d
To Robert Heyhurst 20d
To Mother Jone 20d
To Mother Prat 12d
To John Fordes children 12d
& the residue of the said 10s I will to be given amonge thother poore people at the discretion of my executors immediately after my buriall
And thother 10s & residue of the said 20s to be given to the poore people of Harrietsham within one whole year next after my decease in like manner

I give & bequeath unto my Son Edward Topley all my lands, tenements with all & singuler theire appurtenances To have and to hould and to his heires for ever

I give and bequeath unto Alice my wife one anuity or yearly rent out of my said landes & tenements before given unto Edward my Son to be paid unto her at fowre paiements in the yeare by equall portions
My will is that my wife Alice shall have the great parlor & the lofte over ye parlor & yt litle buttry with free cominge & goeing throwe the hale for her a maid & two children duringe her widowehoode, the seller garden and the meddowe garden with all theire appurtenances and also free liberty to bake & make malt & bine in the kitchin at all times & my executors to find her wood so to doe & further my will is that she shall have liberty at all times duringe her widowehood to come to, set at & use the fire in the hale both she, her maid & two children & my executors to find her wood for the fier in the hall at all times
And yf it happen that Alice my wife mislike to dwell in the said parolr with ye lofte & buttry then my will is that she shall have during her widowhood one annuity or yearly rent of seaven poundes issuing & goeinge out of my said landes & tenementes before given to Edward my Son

I give and bequeath to my said wife Alice one seame of wheate, one seame of barley malt, one seame of oates, one cowe facid white with one horne, two fatt hogges, the bed on the which we lye, the bed on the which the maide lye with all belonginge unto them, the walnutt chest, the chest at our bedside & the chest at the bed side in the little parlor, a dozen and a half of pewter, the middle brasse pott�etc

I give unto Thomas Topley my Son �120 whereof I will that �100 be paid to him when he cometh to the full age of 26 yeares and thother �20 at 28 yeares
And if it happen the said Thomas to to depart this life without issue then I will �80 shall rest in my executors hands & �20 thereof I will to the children of my daughter Agnes Shawe & her husband Thomas Shawe & �10 thereof I will to my daughter Margaret and thother �10 residue to George Brockhull my daughter Alice Son

I bequeath unto my Son Thomas one anuity or yearly rent of �5 out of all my landes & tenements before given unto my Son Edward untill he come to the full age of 26 yeares
I give & bequeath unto my daughter Margaret �40
I bequeath unto my daughter Alice 12s
I bequeath unto my daughter Agnes 12s
I bequeath unto Richard Shawe, my daughter Agnes Son �5

The residue of my goodes unbequeathed I wholly give unto Edward Topley my Son whom I make and ordayne my sole Executor of this my last will and testament
