In the name of God Amen the xxiijth [23rd] day of February in the Yeare of our Lord one thousand five hundred fowerskore and sixteen [1596/7]
I Roger Tysdale of the p[ar]ishe of Burchington in the I[s]le of Thanet in the county of Kent, Yoman beinge sicke in bodye but of Whole & p[er]fect remembrance thanks be therefore to God doe make and ordeigne this my p[rese]nte testament and last Will in manner & forme following
First I bequeath my soule to allmightie God trustinge in his great and inCallible [incalculable] mercye to be saved thoroughe & by the merryts of our savyour Jesus Christ and my bodie to be buryed in Burchington Churche neere to the place where I usually syt

Item I will and bequeath to my sonne Samuell forty pounds of w[hi]ch some shalbe paid to him xxli one Yeare after my decease the other twenty pounds shalbe paid at thend of two yeares next after ensuinge
Item I give to Margaret my Eldest daughter ten pounds to be paid to her half a yeare after my decease
Item I give to Elizabeth my daughter ten pounds to be paid to her one Yeare after my deceasse
Item I give to Anna my Daughter xiijli vjs viijd [£13 6s 8d] to be paid to her at her day of mariadge or at xviij yeres of her age wch soever come to be firste
Item I give to Jane my daughter xiijli vjs viijd to be paid to her at her day of maryadge or at xviijyeres of her age wch soever shall come firste
Item I give to Mary my daughter xiijli vjs viijd to be paid to her at her day of maryadge or at xviij yeres of her age wch soever shall come First

Item I Will that yf any one of my iij daughters Anna, Jane or Mary shall dye before they come to age of to be payd their portions that the same p[ar]te or portion shalbe equally devided amongst the said two younger daughters remayninge
yf two of my said younger daughters decease before their portions be paid then I will that the third youngest daughter shall have the portions of the other two last before named
If all the said three daughters shall dye before they come to age to be paid their portions then my will is that Samuell my sonne shall have their pts & portions
And I will yf Samuell my sonne shall dye before he be paid his portion that Richard my eldest sonne shall have twenty pounds and my three younger daughters shall have the other twenty pounds equally devided amongst them
Item I will that yf eyther of my two eldest daughters shall dye before they be payd their portions that she wch lyveth shall have the portion of the other deceased

Item I will that Alice my wife shall have the benefyt of the portions of my three youngest daughters tyll they come of age towards the bringinge of them up yf she will take the care and Chardge to see them p[ro]vided for & to be brought up And yf she refuse to bringe them up and to take the chardge of them then my sonne Richard shall have the keepinge of them and the p[ro]fyt of their portions

Item I will that Alice my Wife shall have the halfe pte of my Leasse of my farme Wherein I nowe dwell soe longe as she shall keepe her selfe unmaried yf she Will accept of yt
but yf she shall refuse yt my Will is that Richard my sonne shall have the leasse whollye and give to her threeskore pounds or yf she like better to talk [take] the half of all my moveable goods, my legacies and debts beinge first payd and dischardged and my sonne Richard the other halfe pte
Item I Will that Alice my Wife shall have yf she refuse the half of the said Leasse fower pounds by the year quarterly paid soe long as this my said Leasse shall continue

And I make Alice my Wife yf she refuse not the half pte of the Leasse my Executor & Richard my Eldest sonne
But yf she refuse it I ordeigne Richard my sonne my sole Executor
And xpofer [Christopher] Roberts & xpofer Caterewe to be my Overseers and eyther of them to have for their paines six shillinges & viij pence

Probatum fuit: Decimo octavo die Aprilis 1597 [18th April 1597] Appears to have been re-sworn later that month.

Notes:
Rogerus Tisdale was buried at All Saints, Birchington, Kent on 4 Apr 1597.
Alice Teisdale was buried at Birchington on 22 May 1624.
Roger Tisdale married Alice Sprackline [Sprackling] 10 Oct 1569 at St. John in Thanet, Kent.
Children – baptised at St. John: 1 Jan 1572/73 Roger; 12 Mar 1573/74 Richard; 21 Feb 1577/78 Elizabeth;
- and at Birchington: 5 Mar 1580/81 Samuell; Jan 1582/83 Agnes; 6 Nov 1586 Edward; 3 Nov 1588 Jaana; 26 Mar 1591 Maria & William.
