This is the last Will and Testament of me John Underdown of Deal, Pilot made this thirteenth day of December One thousand eight hundred and thirty four

First I Give and Bequeath all that my Leasehold Tenement or Dwellinghouse and Premises now in my own Occupation and all my renewable and other Estate that I may have therein at the time of my decease And also the reasonable use and wear but not the absolute property of all my Household Goods and Furniture, Plate, Linnen and China unto my Wife Jane Underdown and her Assigns for the term of her natural life
And from and immediately after her decease I Give and Bequeath the sole and absolute property thereof unto my Daughter Eliza Mary Jane Underdown and to her Executors, Administrators and Assigns

Also I Give and Bequeath all the residue of my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever, Debts due and owing to me, Money and Securities for Money unto my two Friends William Williams of Deal aforesaid, Baker and Joseph Daniels Browning of Deal aforesaid, Grocer, and to their Executors, Administrators and Assigns

Upon Trust that they my said two Friends & the Survivor of them, his Executors, and Administrators, do and shall thereout pay and satisfy all my just Debts, funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving and executing this my Will And after such Payments thereout as aforesaid, invest the same in the Public Funds or some other good and sufficient security and pay the Interest thereof as it may become due unto my said Wife Jane Underdown and her Assigns for her natural life

And from and immediately after her decease, I Give and Bequeath the sole and absolute Property thereof after such payments thereout as aforesaid unto and equally between my two Children John Noyes Underdown and Eliza Mary Jane Underdown and to their several and respective Executors, Administrators and Assigns

And I make constitute and appoint my said two Friends William Williams and Joseph Daniels Browning joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And lastly I Revoke all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said John Underdown the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper annexed together to the first sheet thereof my Hand and to this second sheet thereof my Hand and Seal the day and year first aforesaid

Signed sealed published and declared by the said John Underdown the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other (the alteration of Mr. Underdown’s Daughter’s name in the Will and twenty fifth lines in the other side) was done at the time of signing and in the Testator’s presence

The before Registered Will of John Underdown deceased was proved the seventh day of January 1846 before the Reverend John Kelsey Francis, Clerk, Surrogate to the Worshipful Sherrard Beaumont Burnaby, Doctor of Laws, Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury, lawfully constituted by the Oaths of William Williams and Joseph Daniels Browning the Executors named in the said Will They being first sworn well and truly to perform the same.
