This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Upton Widow of the late Stephen Upton of Edenbridge Kent Farmer

First I give and bequeath to Robert Parsons of Edenbridge Kent Shopkeeper five pounds of good & lawful money for the trouble he may have in executing this my Will
And I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences shall be paid & discharged as soon as convenient after my decease

And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my property and effects of which I shall be possessed or entitled to at the time of my decease that is to say All my household goods plate linen china glass ready money in the house in the funds or otherwise out upon security or interest All my book and other debts wearing apparel and all my property and effects wheresoever and whatsoever I give and bequeath the whole and every part thereof (except the sum of five pounds as before stated) to Phebe Card the Wife of Jno Card of Buxted in the County of Sussex daughter of my nephew Thomas Hammond for her own use and benefit
and in case she dies in my life time my Will and desire is that the whole of my property go to her heirs or assigns

And I do hereby constitute and appoint the aforesaid Robert Parsons my Executor to this my last Will and Testament who is to be paid all charges and expences attending the execution of his executorship

In Witness whereof I have to the first part of this sheet subscribed my mark and to this second part my mark & seal this twenty third day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty six The Mark & seal X of Mary Upton
