In the name of God Amen the Nyne and Twentieth day of July in the one and Thirtieth yeare of the Reigne of Our Sovereigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the faith etc Anno Domini 1679
I John Verrier of the Towne and Port of Sandwich in the County of Kent Gentleman being sicke and weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory (praysed bee God for it) doe make and ordeyne this my last will and Testament in writeing in manner of forme following (that is to say)
First and principally I yeild my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator trusting and hoping for the Salvacion thereof by his free grace and the merritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer And my Body I bequeath to the Earth whereof it was first framed to bee decently interred at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named

Item I doe give and bequeath unto Susanna Verrier my welbeloved wife for terme of her life the use and weareing of the bed bedsteddle and furniture thereto belonging standing and being in the Chamber called the greene Chamber belonging to the Messauge which [fold in paper] with the use of faure paire of Sheetes Sixe Napkins and the present furniture of the said Chamber for her necessary use and service

Item I doe give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Benedict Verrier the summe of Four hundred pounds of lawfull money of England at her age of Fower and Twenty yeares or day of marriage which shall first happen
And untill the said summe of Four hundred pounds shall become due and payable to my said daughter by vertue of this my will as aforesaid I give and bequeath to my said daughter the summe of Twenty pounds per annum for her maintenance to bee paid to her my said daughter by my Executor hereafter named halfe yearely by equall porcions The first payment thereof to beginne and to bee made at the end of sixe monthes which shall next happen after my decease
provided alwayes neverthelesse and my will and mind is that if my said daughter shall happen to dye before shee shall atteyne the said age of Four and Twenty yeares or day of marriage that then the said Four hundred pounds shall remayne and bee for the onely use and benefitt of my said Executor hereafter named (Anythinge herein conteyned to the Contrary notwithstanding)

All the rest and residue of all and singuler my goods Chattells household stuffe moveables Leases and personall estate whatsoever wheresoever and of what nature quallity or degree soever the same shall exist and bee I doe give and bequeath unto my onely and welbeloved Sonne William Verrier
(hee paying and allowing unto the said Susanna my now wife out of my farme and lands situat and being in the parrish of Sutton next Dovor in the said County of Kent now in occupation of Benjamin Sladden or his assignes the yearely Summe of Thirty pounds in Lieu and Satisfacion for her Joyncture heretofore granted unto her by mee uppon marriage and that for terme of her naturall life according to the true intent and dischardge of the said grant made to her as aforesaid and paying my debts Legacyes and funerall Chardges)

And I doe hereby make and ordeyne him my said Sonne William Verrier sole Executor of this my last will and Testamemt and doe hereby revoke and renance all foumer wills by mee made

This is the last will and Testament of mee the said John Verrier made and decalred the said Nyne and Twentieth day of July in the said one and Thirtieth yeare of the reigne of the said Sovereigne Lord King Charles the Second over England etc Annoque Domini 1679
Touching and disposing of all and Singular my messuages lands Tenements and hereditaments with their appurtenances Situat lying and being in the said parish of Sutton next Dovor aforesaid or elcewhere in the said County of Kent

I doe give and bequeath all my said Messuages lands Tenements and hereditaments with their appurtenances unto my said Sonne William Verrier and to his heires and assignes for ever provided lastly and my will and mind is that if my said Sonne and Executor shall neglect or refuse to pay to my said daughter Benedict Verrier the aforesaid Summe of Fower hundred pounds on the dayes herein before in this my will lymitted and appoynted for payment thereof contrary to the true intent and meaneing hereof That then it shall and may bee lawfull to and for my said daughter to enter into the messuages lands and Tenements aforesaid and to receive the rents issues and profitts thereof untill the said Summe of Four hundred pounds shall bee fully satisfyed and paid according to the true intent and meaneing of this my Will (Any thinge herein before Conteyned to the Contrary notwithstanding)

In witnesse whereof I the said John Verrier to this my last will and Testament in one sheete of paper conteyend my hand and seale have sett dated the day and yeare first above written.
