First I do confirm and ratify the settlement made previous to and in contemplation of the marriage between me and Elizabeth my now Wife (late Elizabeth Ferrier Spinster) bearing date the fourth and fifth days of July one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven the release being tripartite and made between me the said William Verrier of the first part my said Wife of the second part And Stribblehood Norwood May Esquire and Solomon Kelley Ferrier Gentleman of the third part
And do give and bequeath all and singular my Household Goods and Furniture plate Linen and China unto my said Wife
Elizabeth Verrier to and for her own use and benefit
I do also give and bequeath unto my said Wife Elizabeth Verrier the Sum of Fifty pounds to and for her own use and benefit
Also I do give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels moneys securities for money debts due and owing unto me and all other my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and whereof I shall die possessed (after payment of my just debts Funeral expences and the charges of proving and executing this my Will) unto my said Wife Elizabeth Verrier and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life
and from and after her decease then I give devise and bequeath all and singular my Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate at the north end of the middle Street in the lower Town of Deal and now in my own occupation unto my Nephew Thomas Verrier Son of my deceased Brother John Verrier and to his heirs and Assigns
And all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and whereof I shall die possessed unto my Executors hereinafter named their heirs executors and Administrators Upon Trust that they my said Executors and the Survivor of them and the heirs and Executors of such Survivor shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of my said Wife Elizabeth Verrier sell and dispose of all such rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate for the most money that can or may be reasonably got for the same either by Public or Private Sale And I do hereby order direct and declare that the receipt and receipts of my said Executors and the Survivor of them and the heirs and Executors of such Survivor shall from time to time be a good and sufficient discharge to the purchaser or the purchasers of the said Personal Estate or any part thereof for the purchase money or for so much thereof for which such receipts or receipt shall be given and shall not from thenceforth be answerable or accountable for any loss or misapplication or non application of such purchase money for which such receipt or receipts shall be given or any part thereof
such rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate from and after the decease of my said Wife Elizabeth Verrier I do give and bequeath direct and appoint unto the surviving Children of my deceased Niece Sarah Ladd one sixteenth part of my said rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate to be equally divided between them share and share alike
then all such rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate I do give and bequeath direct and appoint unto my fifteen Nephews and Nieces Videlicet Richard Hayman Senior Samuel Mourilyan John Mourilyan John Hayward Thomas Hayward Edward Farrier William Farrier Thomas Verrier Elizabeth Wilson Susannah Stiles Sarah Iggulden Elizabeth Haywood Jane Andrews Susannah Jarvis and Mary Martin equally to be divided between my before mentioned Nephews and Nieces share and share alike and to their several and respective heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns absolutely
And I do hereby make ordain nominate and appoint my said Wife Elizabeth Verrier and my Nephew John Mourilyan the Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament

written on two Sheets of Paper on the sixteenth day of January in the Fifty sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King
