In the name of god amen the 12th day of November 1589 and in the 31st year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth
I Edmond Walsingham of Scadbury in the parish of Chislehurst in the county of Kent esquire being sick in body but of whole and sound mind thanks be to god do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following That is to say
first I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god hoping assuredly by the death and passion of his well beloved son to receive remission and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit his kingdom provided for me and all his elect before the beginning of the world and my body to the earth in Christian burial

Item I give and bequeath unto the poor people of Chislehurst the sum of 40s to be distributed amongst them at the day of my burial
Item I give unto my brother Thomas Pelham esquire and to my sister his wife to each of them 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my brother Sherley and to my sister his wife to each of them 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my brother Shelley and to his wife to each of them 1 piece of gold 30s
Item I give unto my sister Mrs Gressham 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my Uncle Leven Buffkyn esquire 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my Uncle George Guldeford 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my Uncle Henry Guldeford 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my brother Thomas Grysley esquire 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my cousin Mrs Baker 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my friend Mr John Heardson 1 piece of gold of 30s
Item I give unto my cousin Mr James Wootton my little horse

Item I give and bequeath unto my servants Robert Foal and John Wood all my plate household stuff and implements now being at Scadbury to their use and behalf in of special trust I have appointed and committed unto them
Item I give Susan the wife of Robert Foal 3 kyne
And to Kathryn the wife of Thomas Woollans in consideration of her long service 2 kyne

Item my mind and will is that wherein I have from the queen majestie in lease of the manor of Dartford for 14 years yet to come that the said Robert Foal shall have and enjoy the same and the benefit thereof arising for and during the years yet to come
Item my will and mind further is thar where that is due to me by William Richebelde in April next the sum of £108 as by his obligation thereof plainly appeareth and by Robert Mase the sum of £44 due about the same time as by his obligation appeareth, in all £152, my will and mind is that
Robert Foal shall have £20 thereof as a gift from me in consideration of his service
And John Wood in consideration of his honest and faithful service shall have £100 thereof
And Thomas Wollans shall have £9 in consideration of his service
And Frances Barker shall have £10 there in consideration of his service
And William Everist whom I lately entertained shall have 20s
The residue of the said sum of £152 shall be to pay the taylor and others to whom I owe money

The residue of all my goods and chattels whatsoever not before bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my faithful servants Robert Foal and John Wood whom I make my executors to see this my last will and testament executed my debts and legacies paid and performed and my funeral solomized in good sort without any vain pomp or superfluity

Memoradum his further will was that his two nieces Dorothy and Elizabeth Walsingham have each of them £5 out of that plate which hath not the Tegres head upon it
