In the name of God Amen, John Walter thelder of Marden in the Countye of Kent yoman beinge of good & p’fecte helth & memorie thankes be given to Almightie God doe make & ordayne this my laste Will & Testament in maner & forme followinge
First I commende my soule to Almightie God ,my maker & reddemer, by whose deathe & pashon I truelie trust to be saved and my bodie to be buried in the p’ishe Churche of Marden aforesayd by my executor under named.

I give & bequeathe unto the poore people of Marden aforesayd the some of twentie shillings to be payd them the daye of my buriall, at the discrecion of my sayd executor under named

Item I give and bequeathe unto John Walter my sonne imediatly after my decease dureing his naturall life all the benifitt & issues p’fetts & commodities whatsoever which shall yerely arise growe or increase in & uppon one messuage one malt house one stable w’h appurtenances one orchard & one little close to the same belonginge wherein the sayd John Walter my sonne nowe dwelleth in Marden aforesayd, And one other messuage two barnes & other outhouses w’h appurtenances belonginge one orchard and fower peece or p’cells of land Conteyninge by estimacon thirtey acres in Marden aforesayd which I purchased of Edmond Maplisden and Jervas Maplisden of Marden aforesayd yeomen deceased, the sayd John Walter my sonne Committinge nor sufferinge noe waste to be done, in & uppon any of the tymber or tymber trees nowe growinge or at any tyme hereafter to growe uppon any part or parcell of the foresayd .... but only for necessarie repracons of the foresayd messuages tenem’ts & sevall? Buildings And allso the sayd John Walter my sonne shall sufficiently mayntayne the sayd buildings duringe his sayd terme well repayred

And after his decease I doe give & bequeath all the foresayd messuages landes tents buildings and other .... w’t appurtenances unto John Walter & Thomas Walter my grande Children beinge the sonnes of the foresayd John Walter my sonne, and two there heires for ever equalie to be devided betweene them.

Item I give & bequeathe imediatly after my decease unto John Walter my grande child being one of the sonnes of Thomas Walter my sonne late of Marden afoesayd butcher deceased, And to his heirs for ever one messuage one cloase one orchard w’t appurtenances wherein I the sayd John Walter nowe dwell in Marden aforesayd And allso one Barne and fower peecs or p’cells of lande conteyninge by estmacon sixe acres more or lesse nowe in the occapacone of me the sayd John Walter in Marden aforesayd the sayd John Walter my grande childe payinge unto Thomas Walter one of his brothers, beinge allso one of the sonnes of the foresaid Thomas Walter deceased & grand child unto me the sayd John Walter, the some of Fiftie pounds of good & lawfull money of England when it shall please God the sayd Thomas Walter my grande child shall acomplishe the full age of two & twentie yeers

And if the sayd John Walter my grand child shall refuse to paye the sayd Thomas Walter his brother And my grand child the foresayd some of Fifty pounds as above menconed when the sayd Thomas Walter my grand child hathe fullie acomplished the age of two and twentie ters and hath lawfullie demanded the foresayd some of Fiftie poundes Then it shalbe lawfull to & for the sayd Thomas Walter my grand child to enter into the barne & fower peeces or p’cells of land conteyninge by estmacon sixe acres before menconed & bequeathed unto the sayd John Walter my grand child, in Marden aforesayd, And the same to hould deteyne & keepe peaceablie & quietly as his owne untill he shalbe fullie satisfied the foresayd some of Fiftie pounds acordinge to the true meaninge of these p’sents

Item I give and bequeathe imediatly after my decease unto Edward Walter one other of the brothers of the sayd John Walter my grand child beinge allso one of the sonnes of the foresayd Thomas Walter my sonne deceased, And to his heirs for ever one peece or parcell of land conteyninge by estmacon sixe acres lieing belowe the Vicaredge howse of Marden in Marden aforesayd, and nowe in the terme & occupacone of John Wood Minister there,

my funerall expences and legasie to the poore to be payd as above menconed by the forenamed John Walter my grand child sonne of the foresayd Tho: Walter deceased, whom I make and ordayne my sole executor of this my last Will & Testament

In Wittnes whereof I the sayd John Walter thelder have hereunto sett my hand & seale this thirteenth daye of June in the seconde yere of the Rayne of our Sovaryne Lord Charles by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland France & Ireland Kinge defender of the faythe &c Ammo Dom 1626
