Item I give and bequeath unto Jane my welbeloved wife all my goods and household stuff
which shee brought with her when I married her
Item I give and bequeath unto the sayd Jane my wife five pounds of lawful English money soe that
shee the sayd Jane shall and doe seale and deliver unto William Wells my sonne a Lease
of all such land as is allready assured unto her for her joynture for and during the whole terme of
her naturall life at the yearly Rent of tenn pounds of lawfull English money
Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Allen the daughter of my sayd wife twenty shillings of like
lawfull money to be payd within one whole yeare next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my three godchildren that is to saye Edward Wells, William Douglas
and Anne Head tenn shillings apeece of like lawfull money to be paid within one moneth next
after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my three yonger sonnes that is to saye Edward, John and George
fifty pounds a peece of like lawfull money to be paid unto my Overseers hereafter named or the
survivor or survivors of them within one whole yeare next after my decease and by him or them
to be putt out or imployed to the best advantage of my sayd three sonnes and soe
together with the interest profitt and increase thereof comeing and
arriseing to be paid at their severall ages of one and twenty years
Item I give and bequeath more unto sayd John and George my sonnes eight pounds a peece for and
towards the putting of them out apprentice
Item my will and true meaning is that my Executor hereafter named shall well and
sufficiently bringe up and maynteyne my sayd two sonnes that is to say John
and George untill they shalbe put out Apprentice as aforesayd
Item I give and bequeath more unto my sayd three sonnes that is to say Edward John and George
to every of them one joyned chest of the best in my house excepte those three in my bedchamber
Item I give and bequeath more unto my said three sonnes that is to say Edward John and George
fiftie pounds a peece of like lawfull money to be paid unto them by William Wells my sonne and
Executor hereafter named at their severall ages of one and twenty years
so that the sayd Edward John and George my sonnes at their severall ages aforesayd shall
and doe by their severall deedes in writing under hand and seale remise and release (in due
forme in lawe) unto the sayd William Wells my sonne his heyres and Assignes
forever their severall rights tythes claymes properties and demands
whatsoever of in and to all that my messuage or tenement lande
and premisses with their appurtenances whatsoever [deletion] late William Wells my
father scituate lying and being in Eatonbridge aforesayd and not otherwise
anything before menconed to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding
Item All that my messuage or tenement lands and premisses with their
appurtenances aforesayd and all and singular other my lands tenements
hereditaments with all and every their and every of their appurtenances
whatsoever in Eatonbridge aforesayd I give and bequeath unto the sayd
William Wells my sonne to have and to hold unto the sayd William Wells my
sonne his heyres and assignes for ever.
All the residue of my goods Cattell Chattells and houshold stuff whatsoever unbequeathed (my debts legacies and funeral expences being discharged borne and paid) I give and bequeath unto the sayd William Wells my sonn whome I doe make and ordayne sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
And I make and ordayne and hartily pray my wellbeloved frends William Wells my brother, William Dowglas my kinseman and William Head my brother in lawe to be the Overseers of this my present last will and testament to see the same proved and well and truly performed to whome I give in remembrance of mee six shillings and eight pence a peece of lawfull English money over and above the charges they shalbe at in and about any needefull businesse concerning this my last will and testament which I will to be borne and paid them by my sayd Executor
In witnesse whereof I the sayd
Edward Wells the testator to this my present last will and testament (the
same conteyning two sheetes of paper) have to the first sheete thereof
subscribed my hand and my marke and to the other sheete have subscribed my
hand by my marke and seale the day and year first above written.
The marke of Edward Wells the Testator read sealed published and acknowledged
to be the last Will and Testament of the said Edward Wells the testator in the presence of
the mark of Elizbeth Wallis and Nich: Wicking
