This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Bexhill Merrales Weston of Tenterden in the County of Kent Spinster made published and declared this twenty third day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty

I give & devise all that my one undivided fifth part of a moiety and all other my estate, right and interest of and in all those my pieces or parcels of marshland and hereditaments in the Parishes of Tenterden and Ebony or one of them in the said County of Kent and now in the Occupation of Peter Tickner with their appurtenances unto and to the only proper use and behoof of my affectionate Friend George Standen of Tenterden aforesaid Carpenter his Heirs and Assigns for ever
Subject only to the payment of and on condition that in Exoneration of my Personal Estate he and they shall pay and discharge my just debts funeral and testamentary expences the charges of proving this my Will and in settling my affairs and including all the legacy duty (if any) payable under this my Will as soon as conveniently after my decease

And subject also and charged to and with the payment of the sum of four pounds within six calendar months next after my decease unto my Brothers Richard Weston & William Weston to be equally divided between them to whom I give & bequeath the same

I give & bequeath unto my Sister Ann Weston absolutely my box of earthenware and glass (except the five mugs having on them initials of my name) and one shawl and one cape
I give & bequeath unto my Sister Caroline Jarvis absolutely all my bed furniture sheets pillow cases and also all the rest of my wearing apparel and also all my chest of drawers

I give and bequeath as a token of my affectionate regard the before mentioned five mugs bearing the initials of my name to my kind friend Mrs. Caroline Standen absolutely
I give and bequeath my box made of shells to my friend Caroline Ann Standen and my likeness to the said George Standen

I make constitute and appoint my Brother in law Henry Jarvis and Elias Standen of Tenterden aforesaid Carpenter Executors of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Bexhill Merrales Weston the Testatrix have to my last Will and Testament contained in this sheet of paper set my hand and seal the day and year above written

Signed sealed and declared by the above named Elizabeth Bexhill Merrales Weston as and to be her last Will and Testament in the joint presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses
Edward Vinson, Draper, Tenterden; Jn. F. Caister, Clerk to Mr. Munn, Solr., Tenterden

Proved at London 10th August 1840 before the Worshipful Augustus Frederick Bayford, Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oaths of Henry Jarvis and Elias Standen the Executors to whom Admon. [Administration] was granted having been first sworn duly to Administer.
