Edmund Atwood of Hollingbourne, Yeoman, will dated 4 Nov 1562
My Boddye to be buryed in the parish Churche of holingborne before my Stole where I have bene accustomed to sytt
I will to the said Churche for breakinge the payvement of the ground ther 6s 8d
40s for the poore people of the parishe of Hollingborne at my buryinge and 10s yearely to them for 7 yeares
20s to the Reparacons of the parish Churche of Holingborne
6d to everye of my Godchildren

I give and bequeathe to everye of the Servanntes of Nicolas Wood my sonn, aswell mene, boyes and women and to everye of them 12d
I will that Thomas Sylver my olde Servannte shall have his free dwellinge in my hous at Moston where he now dwellithe by the space of 7 yeares next after my deceas, payinge nothinge therefore yearlye but fynding reparacons

I give and bequeathe unto Marye my Wyf �40 (and a list of household items, furniture, silverware) and 2 haifers of 3 yeares of Age now beinge in the kepinge of Nicolas Wood my sonn; and he to wynter them as he doth winter his owne
I will that Nicolas Wood my Sonne shall sofer Marye my Wyf to have a desent Chamber within his howse for the space of half yeare next after my decease with free goinge and comynge to the same at all tymes with fyer and fleet and also sufficient meat and drinke
And yf yt happen that Nicolas my sonn be not here withall contented, then I will to the said Marye my Wyf for her bourde 3s 4d everye weeke duringe the said half yeare

Provided allwayes that yf yt happen that Marye now my Wyf to be with childe, with a man childe then I will yt to have �20 to be paid unto him at thage of 24 yeares. And yf that be a mayden chylde then I will yt to have �10 to be paide at the daye of her marryage

I give & bequeathe unto William Wood my Sonne 4 haifferes whereof 2 are in the kepinge of Gaye (?) of Frittenden and thother 2 are in the kepinge of (blank) Monke of Smarden
I give & bequeathe to Robert Wood my Sonne 2 Steeres now in his kepinge, 2 keine whereof one ys in the kepinge of William Barnes and thother in the kepinge of (blank) Otham, 2 Twelvemonthinge steeres and 2 hayferes of 3 yeares of Age beinge in the kepinge of Ketchinge of Smarden

I give & bequeathe unto Mistres Ursula Saintleger my blacke geldinge
I give & bequeathe unto John Raynolde of hollingborne 20s
I give & bequeathe to everye of the children of Robert Wood my Sonne 20s
I give unto Anne Wood the daughter of Waulter Wood 20s
To Marye Wood the daughter of Nicolas Wood 20s
To Richard Reve and Joanne Reve and to everye of them 3s 4d
To the wyf of William Betchinge 6s 8d

I will that William Betchinge shall have thoccupyinge of twoe peces of land called the Stracke and littell hooke, the whiche the said William Betchinge now occupyethe, by the space of 7 yeares next after my decease, payinge therefore yearlye for the farme thereof unto William Wood my Sonne 20s

I give & bequeathe unto Nicolas Wood my Sonne all my husbandrye Stuf as Waynes, Courtes, plowes, harrowes and all other thynges necessarye for husbandrye excepte a yeronne Tyghle and a Clympe the whiche I will to William Wood my Sonne

I will that John Eyherste of Rochester shall have the occupyinge of �20 of monnye the whiche he owethe me by the space of 4 yeares and then I will the said �20 to be paid to my 4 sonnes William, Robert, Walter and Nicolas Wood by even porcions

The Residue of all my goodes and Cattelles before not bequeathed, my legacyes, bequeathes and debtes beinge fulfilled and payed, I give & bequeathe unto my said Sonnes whom I make and ordaine my Executors
And also I make and ordaine John Eyherste of Rochester to be my Overseer

I will & bequeath unto William Wood, my sonne, all my landes and tenements lying & being in the parish of Hollingborne to him and to his heires for ever
I will & bequeath unto Robert Wood my sonne all my lands & tenements lying and being in the parishe of Chart next Sutton Valance in the parish of Langley to him and his heires for ever
I will and bequeath unto Walter Wood my son all that my landes, woodes ---- called Romested lying and being in Hoking, Stokbery and Allington, to him and to his heires for ever
I will and bequeath to Nicolas Wood my sonne all that my lands with their appurtenances called Bishoppes---- lying and being in the parish of Snargate and in the Levell of Walland to him and to his heires for ever
