Imprimis Whereas I have surrendered into the hands of Sir Jacob Boverie Baronet then Jacob Desboverie Esquire Lord of the Manour of Folkstone by the hands and acceptance of William Lamb Gentleman his Steward all that my copy hold Messuage or Tenement formerly called the Sign of the Mermaid but now the Sign of the Royal George situate lying and being in the Towne of Folkstone aforesaid near the Slade there and now in the occupation of Henry Jeffery or of his assigns to the use and behoof of such person or persons and for such estate and estates as I should in and by my last Will and Testament in writing give and devise the same
Now I do hereby give and devise the said copy hold Messuage or Tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my two sons Jumith [Inmith?] Wraight and Thomas Wraight to hold the same unto them their heirs and assigns forever equally to be divided between them share and share alike and to take as Tenants in common and not as joint tenants subject nevertheless and chargeable with the several legacys or sums of money herein after given and bequeathed by me in my said Will
Item I give and devise unto my said two sons Jumith Wraight and Thomas
Wraight all that my Messuage or Tenement called the Sign of the George
with the stable yard garden backside and appurtenances thereunto
belonging and now in the occupation of Elizabeth Ladd Widow
and also all that my Brewhouse Malthouse storehouses grainaries stables yard and
premises thereunto belonging now in my own occupation
and also one other Messuage or Tenement and shop now in my own occupation and in the
occupation of Thomas Church
all which said premises are situate lying and
together being and adjoining in the town of Folkstone aforesaid at the
upper part of the said town and near a certain place there called the
George Lane
and also all those my five other new built Messuages or
Tenements four whereof adjoin together with the yards gardens and
backsides thereunto belonging situate lying and being at a certain place
called the Saffron Garden in East Brook in the town of Folkstone
aforesaid and now in the occupation of me the said Jacob Wraight and of
Richard Green or his assigns
to hold the said several messuages brewhouse
malthouse stables gardens and premises with their appurtenances unto
my said two sons Jumith Wraight and Thomas Wraight their heirs and
assigns forever equally to be divided between them share and share alike
and to take as tenants in common and not as joint tenants subject also
and chargeable with the several legacys or sums of money hereinafter
given and bequeathed by me in this my said Will
Item I give and devise to my son in Law Leonard Minter and Anne his wife
my daughter all that my new built messuage or tenement with the garden
and backside thereunto belonging with the appurtenances situate ying and
being at a certain place called the Saffron Garden aforesaid in Eastbrook
in the Town of Folkstone aforesaid and is the uppermost house but one of
the six new houses I lately built there and now in the occupation of the
said Leonard Minter or his assigns to hold the same unto my said Son in
Law Leonard Minter and Ann his wife for and during the term of their
natural lives and the life of the longest of them
and from and after both their deaths then I give and devise the same to
the heirs of the body of the said Anne lawfully begotten and to be begotten
and for want of such issue then I give and devise the same unto the said Anne her heirs and assigns
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Wraight the sum of two
hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto him by my
Executors hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
But if my said son Robert shall happen to dye before the time of payment
of his Legacy then I give and bequeath one hundred pounds part thereof
unto my Executors hereinafter named equally to be divided between them
and the remaining one hundred pounds unto my son John Wraight to be paid
unto him by my said Executors within two years next after my decease
And if my said son John shall happen to dye before the said one hundred
pounds is payable unto him then I give and bequeath the same unto my said
Executors hereinafter named equally to be divided between them
Item I give and bequeath unto my said son John Wraight the sum of one
hundred pounds of like lawful money to be paid him by my Executors
hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
But if my said son John shall happen to dye before the time of payment of
his Legacy then I give and bequeath the same unto my said son Robert
Wraight to be paid by my Executors hereinafter named within two years
next after my decease
But if my said son Robert shall happen to dye before the said one hundred
pounds is payable unto him then I give and bequeath the same unto my
Executors hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
Upon this special Trust and confidence Nevertheless that my said Son in Law Thomas Mussen shall put and place out the said sum of three hundred pounds at Interest either in South Sea Annuities or such other Government or other Securities as shall in his Discretion seem meet and convenient and that the Interest and proceed thereof (all necessary expences being first deducted) shall be from time to time by him paid as soon as received unto my daughter Eleanor Wraight until she shall attain the full age of one and twenty years for and towards her Maintenance and cloathing and education and from and immediately after my said daughter Eleanor shall attain her said age of one and twenty years then I give and bequeath unto her the said sum of three hundred pounds to her sole use and behoof forever
And I do hereby order and direct my said Executors hereinafter named to pay unto the said Thomas Mussen the sum of ten pounds per annum until the said Legacy of three hundred pounds shall become payable to him to be by him paid and applied towards the Maintenance cloathing and education of my said daughter Eleanor
But if it happen that my said daughter Eleanor shall happen to dye before
she shall attain her said age of one and twenty years then my Will and
Meaning is and I do hereby give and bequeath the said Legacy of three
hundred pounds before given to my said son Thomas Mussen in Trust unto my
said daughters Margaret the wife of the said Mussen Ann the wife of the
said Leonard Minter and my Executors herein after named in manner
following (that is to say)
One hundred pounds part thereof unto my said daughter Margaret Mussen to her sole use forever
one hundred pounds other part thereof unto my said daughter Anne Minter to her sole use forever
and one hundred pounds residue thereof unto my Executors herein after
named and to their sole use forever equally to be divided between them
and the interest proceed thereof then due in like proportion
and do hereby will order and direct my said Son in Law Thomas Mussen to
pay the said three hundred pounds and Interest or assign over the
Securities thereof according to and in pursuance of the direction and
Meaning of this my Will not in the least doubting or distrusting but that
he will perform the same accordingly
and do desire that he will give unto my said Executors hereinafter named
on the receipt of the said three hundred pounds a good and sufficient
security for payment of the same according to the Meaning of this my Will
as aforesaid
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret the wife of the said Thomas Mussen the sum of Fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto her by my Executors hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Anne the wife of the said Leonard Minter the sum of Fifty pounds of like lawful money to be paid unto her by my Executors hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Jacob Mussen the sum of Forty pounds of like lawful money to be paid unto his said Father Thomas Mussen for his use by my said Executors hereinafter named within two years next after my decease
Item my Will and Meaning is and I do hereby charge and subject all and every my aforesaid several Messuages Brewhouse malthouse stables gardens and premises both freehold and copy hold herein before given and devised unto my said two sons Jumith Wraight and Jacob Wraight their heirs and assigns forever equally to be divided between them with the payment of my aforesaid several Legacys of two hundred pounds before given unto my said son Robert Wraight and of my aforesaid Legacy of one hundred pounds before given to my said son John Wraight and of my aforesaid Legacy of three hundred pounds before given to my said son in law Thomas Mussen in Trust for my said daughter Eleanor Wraight and my aforesaid Legacy of Fifty pounds before given to my said daughter Margaret Mussen and of my aforesaid Legacy of Fifty pounds before given to my said daughter Anne Minter and lastly of my aforesaid Legacy of Forty pounds before given to my said Grandson Jacob Mussen as aforesaid In case my said Executors herein after named shall make any default of payment thereof or of any part thereof
Item I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Eleanor Wraight one silver Tankard marked J W A one silver porringer marked T W A and seven large silver spoons to be delivered unto her by my Executors hereinafter named within one month next after my decease
Item all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels stock crop corn cattle husbandry tackling stock of beer stock of mault beer casks brewing vessels and utensils of brewing ready monies mortgages bonds bills notes leases debts credits and all other my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what Nature or kind soever not herein before by me given and bequeathed after all my just debts legacys funeral expences and the probate of this my last Will and Testament shall be first paid and satysfyed out thereof I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said two sons Jumith Wraight and Thomas Wraight their Executors administrators and assigns forever equally to be divided between them share and share alike
Item I do hereby make ordain and appoint my said two sons Jumith Wraight and Thomas Wraight Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby nominate and appoint my Friend Mr. Thomas Nickalls of Folkestone aforesaid Grocer to be the Guardian of my said son Thomas and of the Estate and effects before in this my Will by me devised unto him until he my said son Thomas shall attain his full age of one and twenty years and do desire and request him to accept of the same and I do also desire and charge my said two sons Jumith and Thomas Wraight that they do live in brothely Love and Unity together and use occupy and enjoy the farm lands and premises I now live in and which is leased to me by the said Sir Jacob Bouverie Baronet equally between them during all the remainder of the Lease that shall be to come at the time of my decease
And lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this to be and contain my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Jacob Wraight the Testator have to this my
last Will and testament contained in these four sheets of paper together
annexed to the first sheets thereof set my hand and to this fourth and
last sheet my hand and seal the Twenty fifth day of November in the
Fourteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by
the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the
Faith etc. and in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and
forty one Jacob Wraight � Signes Sealed published and declared by the
said Jacob Wraight the Testator to be and contain his last Will and
Testament in the presence of us who in the said Testators presence and at
his request have subscribed our names hereunto as Witnesses

The before registered Will of Jacob Wraight late of Folkstone deceased was proved the 31st day of March in the year of our Lord 1741 before the Rev�d James Henstridge Clerk lawful Surrogate to the Worshipful George Paul Doctor of Laws Vicar General to the most Rev�d Father in God John by Devine providence Lord Archbishop of Canterbury primate of all England and Metropolitan exercising his ordinary Visitation in and through his whole Diocese and City of Canterbury and adm�on of all and singular the said goods chattles and credits any way concerning his Will was granted to Jumith Wraight son of the said deceased and one of the Executors therin named he being first sworn well and truly to perform the same The like power being reserved for the other Executor to prove the same when he thinks fit.
