Other Details: Eliza spoke German as her first language, but used English at home once they had children to avoid confusion. The family attended Nockamixon Church where most of the Morrises are buried.4

  14. The Bucks Co. Intelligencer ran a column called "50 years ago" where they reproduced articles run 50 years earlier. On Nov. 1, 1917 it noted: "THE FOLLOWING MARRIAGES TOOK PLACE: ... William Morris, of Nockamixon, and Miss Eliza Stem, of the same place." This article was reproduced on larryhillpot.com

* Pictures and most of the sibling marriages are based on little notes on pictures from several photo albums assembled by Cora Morris Raub and maintained by her daughter Ada Raub Scheetz. Where possible, I have tried to confirm relationships using census records and graves. I cannot be 100% certain of all of this information. I have several pictures of a "Rosa Stem Hager, one of which identifies her as a Eliza Stem's sister. Apparently Eliza's brother Peter had a daughter named Rosa who married Elias Hager. However, I have another picture of her and she appears to be a different person. It may be that someone was just confused when labeling the photo album.
