Other Details: Wilks was part Native American. I seem to recall he or someone told me he was part Cherokee. He was raised in western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. He also served in WWII (April 29, 1943 - Nov. 24, 1945)⁵ and was wounded in the Pacific theater. He once showed me the scar on his shoulder where he was shot by a Japanese soldier.*

Buried at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL⁵ I believe he had his wife's ashes buried with him, although there is no record of this.*

Wilks also helped raise Dolores' three other children from her previous marriage to John Troy: Robert John Troy, [Living Troy], and Paul Troy.
