Notes: According
to Mark Hendrickx, "Henricus was likely the son of a man named
Godefridus. It is essential to know that not all of the
patronymic names in Kessel
were not fixed before the year 1700, this includes the name
Hendrickx, Hendrix,
Hendrikx, Henrici, or whatever the local priest put on the baptismal
papers. If fact
the last names in The Netherlands were not stable or constant
until 1811, when the
government passed a law to this effect. At this point
the Hendrickx name quit changing
in spelling. The name Gaerdts is the same as Geurts, Guerts,
Goerts, Gortz and is also,
like Hendrickx, a patronymic name. A patronymic name derived
from the name of a
father or ancestor with the first name of Geurt, in Latin Godefridus,
and sometimes
Gerardus."
Henricus was a farmer and either leased or owned a farm called
the Aenstoodt farm.
His birth year is estimated as records were not kept in The
Netherlands until 1676.
