Johannes was a "Tapper" (beer server) in a tavern he owned in Venlo.
It was located
on the Oude Markt Straat (Old Market Street), #22 and was called
Stad Rijssel, "The
City of Rijssel". He was also a gardener or farmer.
On 9 August 1842, Johannes was given an award in the shape of a coin.
The inscription
on the coin says "THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE WORK THAT YOU HAVE
DONE." While it is unknown who awarded him this coin, or the
reason for it, the coin
remains in the Hendrickx family to this day. A drawing of the
