           Notes:        Sarah arrived in the United States from Ireland sometime before August of 1850.  
                          There is a Sarah Duffy, age 18, listed as a passenger aboard the Ship David Cannon
                          that arrived at the port of New York on 14 January 1850.  The ship sailed from the
                          port of Liverpool England.  It is possible that this is the same Sarah Duffy.
                         
                          The 1850 US Federal Census lists 2 Sarah Duffys living in the city of Philadelphia,
                          Pennsylvania.  The first Sarah, age 18, living with a family named Milne, perhaps as a
                          boarder or domestic servant.  The second Sarah, age 17, living with a family named
                          McDermott.  There is an Elizabeth Duffy, age 19, also living with the McDermotts,
                          most likely Sarah's older sister.

                          It is assumed that Sarah and Michael Mulhern were married in Pennsylvania about 1854.
                          Their first two children were both born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, so it is also assumed
                          that is where they lived after their marriage.  The family moved to Chicago, Illinois
                          sometime prior to the birth of their third child in August of 1860.  They are listed in the
                          1860 US Federal Census living in the town of Cicero, Illinois.

                          The 1870 US Federal Census lists Sarah's occupation as keeping house.  The 1900
                          US Federal Census lists Sarah's husband Michael as a widower, so Sarah's death
                          occured sometime before 1900.
