I arrived in Davidson at 2 30 this morning and walked out home to find Mother had passed away about seven o'clock last night.
I am now in town with the body with Dad + Sarah Stevens. We expect funeral will be Tuesday. I will not get home until end of week.

John Ryan

John Ryan -- December 22, 1933 who in earlier years operated woollen mills at a number of centres in Manitoba, died in St. Louis this week in his 84th year.
When his mill at Peferion, Ontario, burned down in 1885, he came west to this province and was farming near Carberry, for 2 years; he moved Rapid City wehre he built and operated a woollen mill, later he went to Brandon, Souris, Morden and St. Boniface; in each of these centres he managed mills and disposed of a number of prospective operatios of these industries.
He owned the first electric motor and the first telephone in St. Boniface.
Twelve years ago he left St. Boniface and took up residence in St. Louis. He was an inventor of a number of devices all used in woollen mills, some of which are still being used as part of this industry. He patented several of his discoveries and these brought in quite a revenue.
Mr. Ryan is survived by his widow, who resides in St. Louis, where bruial was made; his daughter, Isabel, and a son, Patrick, live also in St. Louis; other sons are William Ryan, Chicago, Frank Ryan, Shaunavon, Sask, Michael Ryan, Broadview, Sask., and J.C. Ryan, Winnipeg, one daughter, Ellen Ryan, lives in Vancouver. Two sons, Fredrick and John, died a few years ago, making a family of seven living and two dead.
Mr. Ryan was born in Campbell, Ontario, June 22 -1849.
