The last will and testament of Emily C. Coffin, Herkimer, Herkimer, NY, 2 Jun 1914

Know all men by these presents, that I, Emily C. Coffin, of the town of Herkimer, in the County of Herkimer and State of New York, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do hereby make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:

First, I order and direct that all my just debts, expenses of adminstering my estate and funeral expenses be paid.

Second, I give and bequeath to the Trustees of the Northern New York Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, incorporated by the Legislature of the State of New York, the sum of Three Thousand Dollars to be held in trust and invested by it as part of the Preachers Permanent Fund, and the income thereof used for the benefit and assistance of the superannuated ministers, and the widows and orphans of such as have died in the itinerant work in said Northern New York Conference, and the receipt of the treasurer of said Board of Trustees shall be sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Third, I give and bequeath to the Board of Foreign Missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church incorporated by the legislature of the State of New York, the sum of Two Thousand Dollars, and the receipt of the treasurer thereof shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Fourth, I give and bequeath to the Board of Home Missions and Church Extension of the Methodist Episcopal Church, incorporated by the legislature of the State of Pennsylvania, the sum of Two Thousand Dollars, and the receipt of the treasurer thereof shall be sufficient dischage to my executor for the same.

Fifth, I give and bequeath for the Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a corporation under the laws of the State of Ohio, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars. The receipt of the treasurer shall be sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Sixth, I give and bequeath to the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, incorporated by the Legislature of the State of New York, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, and the receipt ofthe treasurer thereof shall be sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Seventh, I give and bequeath to the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a corporation under the laws of the State of Ohio, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, and the receipt of the treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Eighth, I give and bequeath to the Old Ladies Home, of Mohawk, Herkimer County, New York, the sum of One Thousand Dollars. The receipt of the treasurer shall be sufficient discharge to my executor for the same.

Ninth, I give and bequeath to the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Ilion, N.Y., the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, the same to be used to purchase a Baptismal Font for the use of the Church, said font to be in Memorial to my father and mother, Edward Coffin and Catherine Coffin, and shall be so inscribed.

Tenth, It is my intention to leave a letter of instructions with my executor hereinafter named, disposing of several articles of personal property, such as my piano, pictures, books, and other things, and it is my wish, and in so far as I am able, I would like it to be treated as though a part of this will, and the gifts and bequests as therein set forth I wish to have distributed by my said executor accordingly.

Eleventh, all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate i give, devise, and bequeath unto the old Ladies Home of Mohawk, N.Y., to it, its successors and assigns, absolutely and forever.

Intestamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal and subscribed my name this second day of June, 1914.
