The origin of the Albertson family is unknown.

Albert Albertson (1)

Albert Albertson (1), son of Nicholas Albertson and Mary Sutton, was born in 1645.

He was married 20 December 1668, in Berkeley, Perquimans County, North Carolina, to Mary Gosby.

Mary was the sister of John Gosby, who was married to Mary ___. John Gosby�s son, John, Jr., married Hannah Nicholson, daughter of Christopher Nicholson and Hannah Rednap (See Nicholson Family)

Albert died 28 February 1701; Mary died January 1720, both in Perquimans County.

All of the children were born there, the records kept at Perquimans Monthly Meeting.

Nathaniel Albertson I

Nathaniel Albertson I, son of Albert Albertson (1) and Mary Gosby, was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina, probably about 1679.

In 1704, he married Sarah Maris, daughter of John Maris.

Then early in 1705, he announced his intention to marry Abigail Nicholson, who was born 24 September 1689, daughter of Samuel Nicholson and Elizabeth Charles. (See Nicholson Family) Permission was given by the Monthly Meeting, if they would wait for five months, because it was too soon after the death of his first wife.

They "took each other for man and wife att a meeting held att ye house of Samuel Nicholson ye 12 day of July 1705."

Nathaniel died 11 December 1751, in Perquimans County. His will was dated 4 December 1751, and probated in the January Court 1752/3. All of the children were born in Perquimans County, North Carolina.

  1. Sarah Albertson, born 2 November 1706; died before June 1737; married 7 August 1723, at ye Lower Meeting House, Richard Davis of Virginia. He died 1737; will dated 9 4m 1737, probated 14 June 1737.

  6. Jane Albertson, born 18 December 1712, Sutton Creek Meeting House, North Carolina, died before 4 December 1751, Perquimans County, North Carolina; married 7 August 1741, Perquimans, to William Jones

  7. Joshua Albertson, born 1 May 1715 Perquimans Monthly Meeting; died 5 August 1753; married 5 October 1734, Symons Creek Monthly Meeting, to Mary Symons, born about 1715; She was married/2 on 3 March 1757, to William Griffin

  9. Lydia "Lidda" Albertson, born 29 November 1721; married 14 January 1744 Thomas Trueblood, son of Amos Trueblood, of Pasquotank, County, North Carolina

  10. William Albertson, born 23 October 1724, Perquimans County, North Carolina; married 1 August 1747, in Symons Creek, Pasquotank County, North Carolina, to Sarah Pritchard, an elder in the church, who was born 10 October 1723, Pasquotank, and died 21 January 1794, age about 70. She was the daughter of Benjamin Pritchard and Sarah Culpepper. He died in 1784, in Perquimans Monthly Meeting; will dated 31 May 1784, probated 10 Sept 1784. All children born Perquimans County, North Carolina

      1. Benjamin Albertson, born September 1749; married 19 October 1766, Suttons Creek, North Carolina, to Sarah Nixon, born 17 December 1746/7 O. S., daughter of Phineas Nixon & Mary Pierce. They were both elders in the church and lived "together 34 Years and 10 months agreeable." He died 27 March 1802, aged 53 yrs, 7 mo; buried at Sutton Creek. She died 23 August 1801, age 54 1/2. Chalkley Albertson, born 5 February 1752; died 18 August 1808, Perquimans County, North Carolina; married/1 on 5 February 1772, in Perquimans Monthly Meeting, to Elizabeth Toms, born 21 May 1750, died 20 May 1807, daughter of Francis Toms-Rebecca Nixon; married/2 Mary Lamb, widow of Thomas Hollowell, daughter of Isaac Lamb and Elizabeth Nixon (See Nixon Family, Part II)

      4. Mary Albertson (3), born June 1760, died 31 August 1808; married/1 about 1760, Joseph Anderson; married/2 Levi Munden
