Quakers who located on the "western waters" from North Carolina remained under the jurisdiction of New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina until the establishment of Lost Creek Monthly Meeting on the 20th day of the 5th month 1797. Abraham Woodward and Sarah Millikan Mills were appointed clerks of the Men's and Women's Meetings respectively on that date. For more on Lost Creek Monthly Meeting see Quaker Meetings. For the location of Lost Creek and the Friends Meeting see the Old Jefferson County Map on the Tennessee Map page (upper left corner of the old map near New Market - labeled Friends Station).

Modern day sign addition. The monument shown below and the tower on the church building are also modern additions as early Quakers did not believe in such embellishments.
Lost Creek Cemetery - only a few markers are seen as the Quakers believed that tombstones were self agrandizement.
