My Gr Gr Gr grandfather was Thomas Harrison (wife - Agnes Shaw) and they lived in County Down - Northern Ireland in the early 1800's. They were involved with horses in a big way. They had at least one son - John Thomas Harrison (my Gr Gr Grandfather)who was born in 1823 and he wasn't interested in the horse business so at the age of 12 he sailed to Canada in 1835. I have some information of the line from John Thomas onward but would like information on Thomas & Agnes and earlier if possible. If there were other children, they would have continued the line in Ireland and I would like that as well. Anything would be a help. Wayne Harrison ([email protected])

Great Site! Just stumbled across it while surfing. I am looking for any information on Edward E. Redfield a former resident (1890's) of Grants Pass, Oregon. He had a son named Joseph, and a sister named Nettie. Mr. Redfield was quite the inventor, having the patents to a 22calibur tubular feed system which he sold to the Stevens Arms Co. for quite a sum. Mr. Redfield moved to Denver, Colorado somewhere around 1910 or 11. Are there any Redfields in the Denver area that could tell me if Edward E. Redfield is related to the founder (1909) of the Redfield gunsight Company in Denver, Colorado. John Redfield made his home in Washington State, prior to his move and founding of the company in Denver. Both were inventors, Edward E. of Grants Pass and Glendale, Oregon was also a store owner who repaired Watches and sold Cigars, Ice Cream, in Grants Pass. This is a great site, and am hoping for a reply. Thanks loads, Michael Oaks Historic Sites Director for the Josephine County Historical Society in Grants Pass, Oregon 512 SW 5th Street 97526.

Recently started to search for information on my maternal GreatGrandparents. They were Finnish immigrants and apparently met and married in Kalama, Kowlitz Co. WA. My paternal grandmother was Ethel May Harrison, b. Jan 31, 1885 in (or near)knoxville, TN. Her father was George Washington (?) Harrison. Mother was Belle McConnell or McCullough (I have various versions of this name), who died just after her birth. She had 2 older siblings, Anna and Albert, and younger step-siblings Roy, Bill, and Bess. Ethel married Roy Graves in Texas, and they had 7 children. Roy was a descendant of Capt Thomas Graves of Virginia. I am researching the Harrison line of the family, as well as that of her mother.

I know that some of my relatives came from South Carolina back in the late 1700s and early 1800s and settled in middle Georgia in Crawford and Talbot counties. This ares later became Taylor County . I believe it was J.M. McCants that deeded land for the county seat, Butler. My aunt, Bernice Peed McCants, who raised me, and I now consider my mom, had researched the McCants family history back to South Carolina. There are many McCants graves at Union Cemetary outside Butler. One name comes to mind, Sara McCants. Her tombstone read that she was born in Ireland in the 1700's . I know that she came to Butler from South Carolina. I was just surfing and came across this page. Thanks for the info. Jerald McCants

I LOVED your site, what a huge amount of time and effort. I am a descendant of the Dudleys so found massive amounts of information. My descent (reportedly- haven't proven it yet) is from Jane Dudley who married John Duck (b. ca 1644 Cumbernauld, Great Britain d. 1719 Duke Street, Whitehaven, Great Britain.) Didn't find Jane (Dudley) Duck in your database but she is supposed to be a daughter of William Dudley, Senior (d. ca 1681 Middlesex County, VA) m. 1665 Mary Baud/Bawd. William is son of William and Elizabeth. This was all I had until I visited your site today. Do you have any information on my Jane which would connect her to your line? Hope someone does.

Great site! Recently discovered that I have HARRISON ancestors who lived at Kings Meaburn, Morland parish, Westmorland county, England. Other names particularly relevant to me in the area are FURNESS/FURNASS & THWAITES. I've got back to the 1500s on all these so far but most names in the area were connected somehow because these families especially were in the area so long.

I was doing a general keyword type of search of my own family name "Casada" when your Harrison Motes April 1996 (moon.ouhsc.edu/rbonner/johnson/jhn0496.htm) came up. After skimming though it, I located what appears to be the earlist a reference to our name that I know of (item #31, refering to William Casada as a witness to the transfer of 100 acres on Turky Creek and son-in-law to Joseph Harrison in 1835). If this is true and if this William Casada is really a relative of ours, this would put a put a kink in the popular belief held by several of my older relitives that the Casada name actually originated during the civil war when it was mis-spelled on the muster rolls. In transfering to your list of surnames, I could not find any Casada's listed. I guess my questions are: 1) Could this entry be a mis-spelling of Casady, Cassady, Casaday, etc...? How do I know that this person is a real Casada? 2) Where is Buncombe County and Turkey Creek? 3) Since I don't know how to do a word-by-word search of your text, could "Casada" be listed anywhere else in this material? 4) What should be my next logical step in researching this out? In doing a white pages search of our family name, I came up with nearly 200 names (that's about triple the names that my mom came up with about 10 years ago), of about 20% of those, I already know who they are. I'm hoping that since the Casada name is not very common, that one day I can put together a complete family tree accounting for everyone of us. I am kind of new to this genealogy stuff and I was just beginning to sift through some of this research that my mother was working up to 4 years ago before she died. Any help or suggestions are greatly apprecated. Thank you!

Just got interested in looking back. I have come across several boxes of pictures and books that date back to the mid 1800's. I have several pictures of Wm H. Harrison and a book written and published by Wm H. Harrison JR. Be interesting to here from anyone else from this branch of the tree.

The site is fine if you can find it! A lot of links still don't work and sometimes the back button doesn't.
