"1773. Deed Book 11, page 58, Brunswick Co, VA: Peter RANDLE to
William RANDLE, both of Meherrin Parish, Brunswick Co.For 26
pounds current money tract of land south of Meherrin R on the
North side of Great Coldwater, part of a tract of land granted
by his Majesty to Adam Simms. 100 acres. Signed Peter RANDLE."
"21 May 1780. Deed Book 14, page 85. This Indenture made this
twenty first Day of May, 1780 BETWEEN Peter RANDLE of the County
of Montgomery in the State of North Carolina and Mary his wife
of the one part and Willis Wills of the Parish of Meherrin and
County of Brunswick of the other part . . . for and in
consideration of the sum of three thousand pounds . . . doth
grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Willis Wills
. . . all that Tract or parcel of Land whereon the said Peter
RANDLE formerly lived lying and being in the aforesaid County of
Brunswick containing by estimation five hundred and fifteen
acres . . . and bounded as follows (to wit) BEGINNING at [----]
joining the Land formerly belonging to Richard RANDLE now in the
possession of Swanson then running (sic) down the old fork road
to the head of Lightfoots's Creek joining Jesse Edwards then
down the said Creek to the mouth of a branch joining Edward's
Land then up the said branch to a line formerly was between the
said Peter Randle and John Randle thence near a North course to
red Oak then along the said line near W course to white oak
joining William RANDLE, thence along the said RANDLES line to
the first STATION . . . Signed by Peter RANDLE and Mary RANDLE,
and witnessed by William RANDLE, Mary Skinner (her mark), and
Christan Morris. RECEIVED 20th of May 1780 of the within
mentioned Willis Wills three thousand pounds current money of
Virginia it being the consideration money within mentioned to be
by him paid to Peter RANDLE. At a Court held for Brunswick
County, the 22d Day of January, 1781. This Indenture was
acknowledged by Peter RANDLE and Mary his wife Parties thereto,
she having been first privily examined as the Law directs, and
the receipt thereon endorsed was also Acknowledged by the said
Peter RANDLE & together with the said Indenture, Ordered to be
Recorded.
29 Jun 1784. Made application for 200 acres of land with John
Fletcher on Rocky Run in Montgomery County, NC. Land was granted
on 09 Aug 1786 [Grant number 419, Book 65, Page 37, The Land
Grant Office]
23 Feb 1788. Deed Book 14, page 414. This Indenture made the
twenty third Day of February 1788 BETWEEN Peter RANDLE and Mary
his wife of the County of Montgomery in the State of North
Carolina of the one part and William Edward Brodnax of the
County of Brunswick in Virginia of the other part . . . for and
in consideration of the sum of five hundred pounds . . . do give
grant bargain sell and confirm and release unto the said William
Edward Brodnax . . . all their right title and interest of in
and to the plantation and tract of land devised by the last Will
and Testament of John Sims deceased father of the said Mary unto
her brother John Sims his son; after the death of his mother the
said Will bearing date the twelfth Day of May 1778 and recorded
in the County Court of Brunswick will more fully appear the said
John Sims having conveyed the same to the said William Edward
Brodnax by deed of feoffment and who now hath the possession
thereof . . . Signed by Peter RANDLE and Mary RANDLE and
witnessed by James Fletcher, James Gray, William Johnson, and
Peyton RANDLE. State of North Carolina, Montgomery County April
Session 1788. Then the within Deed was duly proved in open Court
by the oaths of James Fletcher, James Gray and William Johnson,
Esquires, subscribing witnesses thereto by order said Court. A
copy teste by Geo. Davidson, County Clerk. At a Court held for
Brunswick County the 22d Day of September 1788. This Indenture
of Release from Peter RANDLE and Mary his wife of the State of
North Carolina to William Edward Brodnax of this County,
together with a Commission annexed for taking the acknowledgment
and privy examination of the said Mary and a Certificate of the
Execution thereof as also a Certificate of the proff [sic] of
the said deed from Montgomery County in the said State of North
Carolina were presented in Court and being examined and approved
or admitted to record agreeable to the act of assembly entitled
"An Act for Regulating Conveyance"."
"26 Jun 1796. Peter RANDLE made application for 75 acres of land
on Denison's Fork in Montgomery Co, NC. Granted 26 Jun 1799.
