Charles City County Court Orders 09-1739 page 115: Will of Mrs.
Frances Anderson presented by Frances Anderson, her executrix,
and by John Stith, in right of his wife. Jane Anderson and
Charllotte Anderson, the other executors, did not move for any
right to execute will.
The absence of any reference to Charles Anderson Jr. in this
record sugests strongly that he was deceased before 1739 as he
was due his father's lands after the death of his mother."

In the name of God, Amen, I, MOSES PENN, of the Cunty of Amherst
being weake and low of body but of perfect sences and sound of
memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in
manner and forme as followith.
Item first it is my will and desire that all my just debts
should be paid.
Item. I give unto my brother Philp Penn my negroe fellow named
Jacob, to him and his heirs forever.
Item, I give unto my niece and Godchild Parmelia Penn daughter
of my brother Gabriel my negroe woman named Tamar with her
future increase, to her and her heirs forever.
Item, I give unto my nephew and Godson, George Penn (son of by
brother George), my negroe fellow named Gabe which said negroe I
have lent to my brother William Penn to attend him on his
journey in some of the Southern Provinces, and in case the said
negroe should die in the possession of my said brother William I
charge him my said brother William seventy-five pounds to be
paid to my said Godson George Penn in lew of the said negroe, to
him and his heirs forever.
Item, I give unto my brother William Penn the sum of fifty
pounds to be collected and paid him out of the debts due me,
part of which is already in his own hands.
Item, I give unto my nephew Frank Lee my riding horse saddle and
bridle and one-half of my wearing apparel.
Item, I give unto my nephew Richard Lee halfe of my wearing
apparel.
I give unto my God son Ben Phillips son of William Phillips ten
pounds out of the debts due me if any remain after my just debts
are paid.
For the care and diligence of John Conner in Wateing on me in my
sickness I desire he may be amply recompenced out of my estate
for the same at the discretion of my executors.
Item, All the remainder of my whole estate if any such remaining
I give unto my niece Nancy Lee to be applied towards her
maintenance and education and lastly do appoint as Executors to
this my last will and testament my beloved brothers George Penn
and Gabriel Penn.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
third day of Augues An. dom. one thousand seven hundred and
seventy-foure. MOSES PENN, JUN, [L. S} Sealed & acknowledged

At a court held for Amherst County the third day of October,
1774. This last will and testament of Moses Penn Jr., deceased
was presented in Court by George and Gabriel Penn, Executors,
therein named, who made oath thereto according to law, and the
same being also proved by the oaths of Edmund Wilcox, John
Lamont and David Shepherd, subscribing witness thereto, is
