Chichester Sturdivant deeded land to his son John in 1728.
Evidence is strong that Daniel son of the immigrant John
Sturdivant had a son John. As John and Mary Sturdivant had a son
named Mathew, it might be supposed that John was the son of
Mathew, of the second generation, who died intestate in Surry in
1728, but that Mathew had a son John Anderson Sturdivant who
died in Sussex in 1773.
To complicate matters, there is one entry to a contemporary John
Sturdivant in the Bristol Parish Register. He and his wife
Elizabeth had a son William, born in 1723. The most plausible
explanation is that the John in question, whose descendants
appear below, was the son of Daniel Sturdivant. The surname of
his wife Mary is not know. They had issue.
