INVENTORY OF EARLY ARCHITECTURE AND HISTORIC AND ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES COUNTY OF HENRICO page 238 Buffin Mansion Site (Dutch Gap Quad): This 2 story brick mansion was owned by the Buffin family, after whom nearby Buffin Road was named. According to family tradtion, during the Civil War Federal officers pulled cannons into the front lawn and told the family to be out of the house by 11 am. The mansion was destroyed and the family was forced to live in the slave quarters until they could build another dwelling. page 309 The Buffin family came to this country from France before the American Revolution and settled in the eastern part of Henrico Co. They owned a large home on what is know the Buffin Road.

I have been told that Alfred Buffin and Pres. Harrison were neighbors and good friends resulting in the naming of the 2 male Buffin children after the Pres.

They are several notes stating that Amey Stanley Spraggins was from the Westover Plantation, but have been unable to find this connection.

William and Mary Qrtly. Vol 24: Archibald Christian (John 2, William 1) married Fanny Warren, sister of Dr. Michael Warren of Warrenton, James City and had 1 Mary 2 Jane who first married Samuel Parker second Phillip Buffin.
