"Milton listed on the 1920 Los Angeles County Census report as
an unmarried soldier stationed there in the U.S. Army.
This Milton H. Sandidge was the son of Hutson C. Sandidge (born
Jan 18, 1843, Hawkins County, Tennessee; died 1921, Hawkins
County) and grandson of Archibald Thomas Sandidge ( born March
18, 1811, Virginia; died March 9, 1887, Surgoinsville, Hawkins
County, Tennessee).
There is no other Milton H. Sandidge or Milton Sandidge listed
in any state census index for the years 1910 or 1920 under any
of the various possible spellinngs of the family surname.
Efforts to identify Pete A. Sandidge have turned up nothing.
He is not
in my index of family members, nor is he to be found in any
1910 or 1920
census index of any state under the name Pete or Peter or P
with any of the
various possible spellings of the family surname. In fact,
there have been very
very few Sandidges who were given the name "Peter" or "Pete".
The Maude Isabelle Sandidge mentioned is buried in the same plot
as Pete A. Sandidge and therefore was his wife - a standard
practice in national cemeteries where space is limited and the
spouse is the only one who earned the entitlement to a burial
plot there." Martin Sandidge
