Richard Flood was the son of John Fludd (bapt. 10 August 1572 at
Brastead, Kent) and a younger daughter was Katherine Fludd
(bapt. 31 August 1579 at Brastead), who married Thomas Lunsford
at Greenwich St. Alphage. They were the parents of Thomas
Lunsford who was the second husband of Elizabeth Wormeley, who
married Richard Kempe, Secretary of Virginia, as her first
husband [see Noel-Currer-Briggs, "The Search for Mr. Thomas
Kirbye, Gent.", Phillimore and Co., 1987]."

Notes from a microfilm copy of the WPA transcripts of deeds in
Marlboro County show :
February 19, 1784. Deed between JOHN HODGES and James Cook both
of the Parish of St. David's in the State of South
Carolina......for and in consideration of one horse the sd JOHN
HODGES paId by the said James, hath......Sold and delivered to
the sd.James that tract or parcel of land containing one
hundred and fifty
acres............................................
Signed. Sealed and delivered.JOHN (X) HODGES (L.S.) SARY (X)
HODGES (L.S.)
Sept. 26, 1791. Deed. JOHN HODGES & ANN his wife, of
Darlington County, State of S.C. of the one part & Moses
Pearson, of Marlborough County, State of S.C. of the other part.
For L200 sterling, 172 1/2 acres of
land................................
Witnesses: JACOB BUCKHALLS, GEORGE HODGE, ELIZABETH EVANS.
JOHN HODGES (L.S.) ANN HODGES (L.S.).....................
Feb. 5, 1795. Deed of Gift. ISHAM HODGES and MARY HODGES, his
wife, of Marlborough County, State of S.C. on the one part and
MARY HARRY, daughter of JOHN & SARAH HODGES. We do give, one
negroe woman named Phillis, one negroe boy named George
.............Signed ISHAM HODGES (LS), MARY (X) her
mark.............
This deed of gift is interesting. It shows that maybe John was
married to Sarah and that they had a child Mary who married a
Harry. I wonder if this is the same Mary who later married Noel
Waddell?
Because the above deeds may cause some confusion I will tell you
that at the time people lived near and on both sides of the
Pedee River - those on the east side in Marlborough County and
on the west side in Darlington County.
