!A farmer, he purchased land on Herrod's Fork Creek in Adair Co., KY from his father in 1845. He sold this farm to John Royse and James McGlason when he moved to Madison Co., Iowa in 1860. Peter, and his wife Parthena, were among a group of families in Adair County who were opposed to slavery. Just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War these families were apparently pressured by the community to leave Kentucky. The families belonged to the United Brethern of Christ Church, Parthena's father, Rev. John Marshall Blair, was the congregations minister. Peter represented South Township as a Director of the Madison County Agricultural Society in 1879.
