She says that one legend is that two of William Hodges sons rescued Judah Benjamin, the Vice President of the Confederacy, and hid him at the home of Rev. Moses Hodges, and enabled him to escape to England at the close of the Civil War. Benjamin's biography confirms the stay at Moses' home; however, he does not mention the Hodges brothers by name.
Her line was William M. Hodges (b. 14 Apr 1754) Pittsylvania, VA m. Elizabeth Kearby and there children were: John Hodges, Fleming Hodges, Jane Hodges, Andrew Hodges, Moses Hodges, William Asa Hodges, Elizabeth B. Hodges, Frances Hodges.


William M. Hodges father was John Hodges, Grandfather was Robert Hodges and Great Grandfather was John Hodges.
