By the second marriage he had a daughter, Mary, born 17 July,
1752, who married the Rev. James Waddell. Col. Gordon died 2nd
Jan., 1768, aged 54 years. The two brothers left many
descendants in Virginia.
The arms are taken from a silver tankard, formerly the property
of Col. James Gordon, which is now in possession of Dr. A. A. E.
Taylor of Columbus, Ohio. The Virginia immigrants were the two
oldest of the four sons of James Gordon, Esq., of Newry, Co.
Down. This James being the second son of James Gordon of
"Sheepbridge," Co. Down, gent. The arms they use are those of
Gordon of Huntly."

have descended all the Lumpkin family of the United States, some
of whom are to be found in many of the States of our great and
widely extended confederacy.
My father was probably a great-grandson of Col. (Jacob)
Lumpkin."
