"admitted freeman May 6, 1746; made Ensign of 9th Company May, 1756, 2d Lieutenant March 14, 1758, and Captain of 2d Company of Scituate July 13, 1761". "He bought 180 acres of land in Sc1tuate, March 30, 1749; consideration, 450.£. His father, Chad, gave him 70 acres, Oct. 5, 1751. He bought an additional 150 acres March 2, 1752; consideration, 800.£. At this date he made a will which was never executed, "being by the Providence of God engaged In an expedition against his Majesty's enemies," giving to his lov1ng son Chad all his estate, but in case he should die without Issue and before he became of lawful age, then his estate was to go to his sisters, viz., Juda Colegrove. Mary Haynes, and Rachel Colegrove".


"The family moved probably in 1776. ¦ to "Old Dutch Hoosick," in Rensselaer Co. NY where they lived until quite infirm from old age, spending their last years with their children in Burlington, Otsego Co. NY where she died, April 5,1803, at the house of their daughter, Tabitha Weightman, and he at the house of their son, Elhanan Aylsworth, Oct. 13,1814, aged 88 years, 1 month, and 22 days. They were members of the Baptist Church. And were buried in the old Baptist Church cemetery, between West Burlington and Garrattsville. He was a man of simple habits, a plain, sturdy man, frugal, generous, neighborly, and honest".

"I, Daniel Thornton of Johnston in the county of Providence and colony of Rhode Island and yeoman do hereby for and in consideration of One Hundred and Thirty-two good Spanish milled dollars and one half dollar to me in hand be for the yn sealing hereof paid by Thomas Aylsworth of Scituate in the County and Colony aforesaid, Gentleman, for which the said Daniel Thornton do hereby sell and deliver unto the said Thomas Aylsworth and to his heirs and assigns for ever one negro man named Cuggo aged about 36 years old which said negro man I the said Daniel Thornton do hereby warrant and engage unto the said Thomas Aylsworth and to his heirs and assigns that at and before the delivery hereof I was the true sole and lawful owner of the above named Cuggo and that I have a good right to sell him as abovesaid, in witness whereof I the said Daniel Thornton have hereunto set my hand and seal in said Scituate this seventh day of April in the Eighth year of his Majesty's reign George the third by the Grace of God king over Great Britain &c. Anno Domini 1768.
