Notes

"Ann was born about 1742 (?) possibly in Wales, the Gwynedd Settlement in North Wales, PA or the Maiden Creek Settlement. In 1763 her parents, John & Mary Jones requested a certificate from Exeter MM to Cane Creek Mtg. in North Carolina; in 1769 from Cane Creek to Fredericksburg MM, SC and appear to have gone to Bush River Meeting. John (or Jonew) Jones is said to have been the original proprietor of the town of Newberry, SC. The listing of the children of John and Mary is as follows:
Jonathan Jones, Nathan Jones, Richard Jones, Ann Morgan Brown, Philipina Stanfield born 11 July 1744 died Aug 1816, Margaret Day, James Jones and Mary Anglin."

Death records from Wrightsborough MM,GA
-Exeter MM, Berks co,PA on 28 1M 1751 John received in membership; on same date [wife] Mary Jones received in membership

-No records for Fredericksburg MM or its sucessor Wateree MM,SC are extant;
by 1782 Wateree MM had been laid down & remaining membership reassigned to
Bush River MM,SC which had been established in 1772
-Wrightsborough MM,GA set off from Bush River MM,SC in 1774
-Extract of his Will published in Georgia Pioneers Genealogical Magazine, Vol.II,Nbr 3,p.8, Aug 1965; mentions children Jonathan Jones, Nathan Jones, Richard Jones, Ann Brown, Philipina Stanfield, Margaret Day, James Jones, John Jones and Mary Anglin;
research by Lurose Patton Landers
-The will states that James Jones is weak in sense and not capable of managing his own affairs. His brothers, Jonathan and Nathan, are to supply him with raimant and care for him. In return they are bequeathed a 400 acre plantation to be equally divided, also 100 acres in St. Paul's Parish.
-There is an interesting story about this James Jones in The Annals of Newberry, by John Belton O'Neal, Charleston, SC, Courtenay & Co, 1859;
the town of Newberry, SC stands upon lands originally granted to John Jones, shown by a visit there in 1819 by James Jones, an idiot, aged 70-80, who came from GA and who stated that his father had originally lived thereabouts."
