From the information which we have gathered, it appears that
five brothers of this name came from Maryland, and most of them
settled in the vicinity of Hill's Factory, on Tyger River. The
ancestry of these descended from the North of England, and their
names were respectively William, Joseph, James, John and
Benjamin. The tradition in the family is that two brothers from
the North of England came to America and settled in Pennsylvania
near the Maryland line, and that one of these brothers was the
father of these five brothers.
