Subject: Pulliam Higginbotham, Nancy Lane Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998
Pulliam Higginbotham, b. 1794-1800 had several children by a
first wife including Lawson b. 1821, and Francis Marion b 1830.
On Aug 16, 1832 in Edwards Co. IL he married Nancy McCracken.
In 1840 Pulliam and family appear in the Poinsett Co. AR. In
1850, Nancy appears married to J.B. Shelton, with children
Louisa -14yrs, Jane -11yrs, Matilda -10yrs, William -7yrs , John
G - 2yrs. along with A. Higginbotham and Francis Marion
Higginbotham.
Nancy Lane, b.1810-1815 married, on Jan 9, 1830, Aquilla
McCracken b 1810-1815.
(John Lane was living next door to Aquilla's father Aquilla in
Wayne Co., IL.) Aquilla (Jr) appears on the 1830 census, but no
futher record found.
Question 1- Did Pulliam Higginbotham marry Nancy McCracken,
thought to be daughter of Aquilla (Sr.), or his daughter in law
Nancy Lane McCracken?
Question 2- Are the children appearing with J.B.Shelton, J.B.
and Nancy's children, or his by a previous marriage?
Question 3-Anything else you want to tell me about these
Higginbothams,
Lanes and McCrackens. Thanks, Larry
