Notes

CONFLICT data on Parents and wife's last name.

Father: Ambrose HUNDLEY b: BET. 1678 - 1684 in Gloucester, Va Mother: Elizabeth WILKINSON b: 29 JAN 1677/78 in St. Charles, York, Virginia.

Children: Anthony, William, Charles Wilkinson, SY, Joshua, Letitia, Elizabeth, and Ann named in Anthony Hundley's 17 Jan 1784 Amelia Co. will. Anthony also names his wife Ann.

This info from Ancestry.com: Son of Philip Hundley. Joshua Hundley b. 1756 Of Amelia, VA m. 1786 Of Amelia, VA Mary Farley, Anthony Hundley Ann Dupuy. Leticia Hundley b. 1758 Of Amelia, VA Anthony Hundley Ann Dupuy.

"If Anthony Hundley married a DuPuy daughter, likely Elizabeth DuPuy. Elizabeth would have been the mother of Anthony's children named in her father's will. Anthony would have married Ann after the death of Elizabeth. Ann is named as the widow of Anthony Hundley and as being taxed on 164 acres in Amelia Co. in 1784 (Nottoway Co. Deed Book #3, page 343). His will was written 17 Jan 1784 and was witnessed by Martha DuPuy and others (Ruth H. Duncan). I don't know who Martha DuPuy was but her witness has led some to believe that this Anthony was the husband of Elizabeth DuPuy, d/o of Pierre and Judith DuPuy. Ann: Walter Lee Hunley states: Anthony Hunley's widow, Ann, was taxed on 164 acres in Amelia Co. in 1784 and on 155 acres in 1787, after her son William sold 10-1/2 acres in 1786. Ann was taxed on 156 acres in 1790 through 1800. (Nottoway Co. was formed in 1788 from Amelia Co., VA.) In 1801, William Hunley (likely her grandson, if her son d. in 1800) was taxed on 156 acres. In 1807, William Hunley and wife, Obedience, of Nottoway Co. sold 156 acres. Ann's maiden name is unknown."

"Of greatest concern to me is that Anthony named none of the alleged children from his 1st wife in his 1809 will (d. 10 Jun 1811). Attached is a transcription of that Anthony's Washington Co, KY, will, which I received yesterday from Michael Miller. Walter didn't state in his e-mail that Anthony died in Washington Co., as he had said in his phone call. I recall Walter mentioning that another Anthony Hundley, likely the son of Anthony who d. 1784, married Charlotte Walton. (I'm looking for his probate record.) That appears to be supported by Gary Young who says there were two Anthony Hundleys in Washington Co., per this FTM GenForum posting:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/hundley/messages/578.html

Their fathers, Anthony Hundley (d. 1784) and Charles Hundley, were brothers according to an earlier e-mail from Walter. Anthony's 1784 will names children: Anthony Jr., William (my wife's ancestor), Charles Wilkinson, Cy, Joshua, Leticia, Elizabeth and Ann. Their names include those of the grandchildren named in Peter Dupuy's will, except that of Elijah. That important exception and the order of naming argues against Anthony's (1784) children being the grandchildren of Peter DuPuy. However, Anthony's age and the likely birth of his children before 1765, make a good fit."
