First I commend my soul in to the hands of almighty God hoping
through the meritoric Death and profession of our savior Jesus
Christ to receive free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and
my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the
descretion of my Executors hereafter named. First I desire that
my debts, legacies and funeral charges be first paid and
discharged.
1st. I give to my son Edward all my lands where I now live.
Likewise a parcel of land lying on the south side of the
Cattail??_____upon Henry Moody and Thomas Edwards, be it 226
acres more or less to him the said Edward Hatcher and his heirs
forever.
2ly. I give to my son Benjamin Hatcher the land where he now
lives lying in Cumberland Co. above a line marked by he and I be
it 175 acres more or less to him the said Benjamin Hatcher and
his Heirs forever.
3ly. I give to my son Charles Hatcher all the remainder of my
land joining to my son Benjamin be it 175 acres more or less to
him the said Charles Hatcher and his heirs forever.
4ly. I give to my daughter Tabitha Bass a Negro girl named
Hanner and her increase to her Tabitha Bass and her heirs
forever.
5ly. I leave the slaves that I now have or will have at my death
to be equally divided between my two sons Charles and Edward
Hatcher and my daughter Martha Hatcher to them and their heirs
forever.
6ly. I give to my son Samuel Hatcher my large bible.
7ly. I give to my grandson John Robertson one Shilling Sterling.
8ly. I leave the remainder of my Estate when my debts and
legacies are paid to be equally divided between my two sons
Charles and Edward and my daughter Martha Hatcher.
9ly. I desire that my estate shall not be brought to
appraisement and therefore appoint my sons Samuel Hatcher,
Charles Hatcher and Edward Hatcher, full and sole Executors of
this my last will and testament revoking and disanulling all
other wills and testaments by me formerly made. In witness
whereof I have set my hand and seal this 28th day of November,
1762.
