JEFFERSON.
John CRITTENDEN was Major of the Virginia State Line and
Lieutenant in the Virginia Continental Army in the War of the
Revolution; Member of the Committee of West Fincastle to the
Convention of Virginia, 20th June, 1776; representative from
Fayette County in the Virginia House of Burgesses, 1783-1784;
Original Member of the Cincinnati;
his son Robert CRITTENDEN was Governor of Arkansas;
his son Thomas T. CRITTENDEN was Secretary of State for Kentucky
and a distinguished Judge;
his son Henry CRITTENDEN was the father of Thomas T. CRITTENDEN,
Governor of Missouri and of William Logan CRITTENDEN, Captain
United States Army, shot by Spaniards in Cuba in 1851.
