To the Sheriff of said County-----------------Greetings
You are hereby commanded to summon: W.H. TODD, J.W., W.E., PETER
M., NICHOLAS M., GREENWOOD, JOHN H., JULIA A., ULYSSES WEST,
G.L. BURNETT & WIFE AMANDA, W.P. BURNETT & WIFE MARGARET to
appear before the worshipful county court for said couty of
Hardeman to be holden at the court house in the town of Bolivar,
on the first Monday in November 1861 and then and thereto plead,
answer or demur to the petition of SARAH GATEWOOD against said
defendants for the dower, AL., of complainant in the lands of
NICHOLAS GATEWOOD in said petition described, or the same will
be taken for confessed as to them and set for hearing exparte.
Witness: R.P. NEELY Clerk of our said court at office in Bolivar
This 30th day of September A. D. 1861
Records show that Nicholas Gatewood bought 239 acres of land.
Sarah Gatewood must have received 39 acres of land. The
children of Nicholas Gatewood received and sold 200 acres of
land.

Greenwood, and John H. Gatewood to appear before this worshipful
county court of Hardeman, to be holden at the court house in the
town of Bolivar, on the first Monday of November 1861 and then
to plead, answer or demur the petition of W. H. TODD, Peter M.,
G.L. BURNETT ane wife and W.E. GATEWOOD against Julia, Nicholas
M., James W., Greenwood and John H. for the sale of the heirs
land in said petition described, or the same will be taken for
confessed as to them, and set for hearing exparte.
Witness: R. B. NEELY Clerk of our said court at the office in
Bolivar on this 30th day of September A.D. 1861.
Be it known that on this 1st day of December 1865 on this cause
to be heard before this worshipful court, on the report of the
clerk of this court, who ordered by this court at this court,
who ordered by the court at it's last term to sell the 200 Acres
block described in this petition in this cause, which said
report is in the words and prayers following to Wit: (here set
out) and bring no objection to said report and by proof amends
and taken by this court. It appears that the land sold bought a
fair price it is ordered and judicates and decrees by the court
that the same in all things confirmed, and all rights titles and
interest of the heirs of Nicholas Gatewood, deceased locate
WILLIAM E. GATEWOOD, PETER M. GATEWOOD, J.L. BURNETT & WIFE
AMANDA, J. W. P BURNETT AND WIFE MARGARET, JULIA A.GATEWOOD,
JAMES W. GATEWOOD, NICHOLAS M. GATEWOOD, GREENWOOD GATEWOOD AND
JOHN H. GATEWOOD.
Be and said lands as in foresaid, and these land be vested in
DOAKE CALLIHAN the purchaser of said 200 acres of lands
aforesaid, his heirs and assigned forever.
It is further ordered by the court that the clerk of this court
after revering the cost of this cause out of the monies arising
from the sale of land in this cause to W.H. TODD Administrator
of the Esate of NICHOLAS GATEWOOD, deceased. The balance of said
upon giving a bond double the amount of monies so paid over, for
the faithful use of this cause as administrator as aforesaid.
W. H. TODD ET AL Estate for petition to sell land, The heirs of
NICHOLAS GATEWOOD deceased. Be it remembered that this cause
came on to be heard before the worshipful court for Hardeman
County on this 5th Novermber 1861. And appearing to the court
that JULIA ANN, JAMES W., GREENWOOD, NICHOLAS M. AND JOHN H.
GATEWOOD are minors in this cause and have no regular guardian.
It is therefore ordered that N. F. ROBERTS be appointed guardian
for the said minors and that he assume the alleyseory in said
petition.
